The Captain's House was renovated in 2004 (including air-conditioning) and is situated in the village of Eresos, a 5 minute drive to the beach. It's balconies and garden have lovely views of the mountains and countryside down to the sea. Unusually spacious for Greece, the house and garden provide in-door and outdoor dining areas with a pool to cool down in. Shops, restaurants and bars are very convenient, but far enough away so that the house is peaceful.

Notes on accommodation
The Captain's house is ideal for a 1 or 2 families or a group of friends. Children have a large outdoor area to play in and adults can relax in the sun or read in the shade.
Accessibility
Eresos is an ancient village with very narrow roads. Car parking is approximately 20 metres from the property. There are downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and the outdoor area is paved without any steps.
Outside
The outdoor area is paved and has a pool, a large, roofed outdoor eating/relaxation area; a dining table for approximately 14 people can be placed in the shade or sun. There is an outdoor shower. The balcony has tables and 8 chairs. The small balcony accessible from bedroom 1's dressing room is suitable for 2 people.
Coast/Beach
The Captain's House is 3.6km from the beach, a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk. The beach is lovely (beds can be hired). Water sports/windsurfing are available. There are at least 30 restaurants and beach bars which offer extremely good food.
Travel
The nearest airport is Mitilini. All major car hire companies are represented at the airport. The drive takes between 1 hour 15 mins and 1 hour 45 minutes. There is a bus from the airport to Eresos which costs 6 euros.
Distances
The Captain's House is in the village of Eresos. The nearest village (and beach is Skala Eresos 3.6km). The fishing village of Sigri has a new museum and is approximately 20 minutes drive away (16km). Milini has a number of interesting churches and a museum which boasts a number of contemporary painters.

Just a quick one to say how much we all enjoyed our holiday at the Captains House - it was really relaxing - a beautiful place and please say "thank you" to Peter, Ann and Claire for us - they were more than helpful. It was great to renew my acquaintance with the turtles and you were right , they do seem to be flourishing ! They and the pool were the big hits with the kids - the pool was great - it was difficult to get ourselves out of it some days and swimming in the evening with the lights on was magical ! Sian

About the owner
I fell in love with Eresos 15 years ago. It is a unique and lovely place and in all my travels I haven't found anywhere like it. I bought the house as a wreck and refurbished it to the highest standards so that it would be a comfortable and relaxing place.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I love the fact that Eresos is as lively in the winter as in the summer. It is a proper village!
Unique benefits of the property
The house is right in the middle of the village, but you don't feel as if you're surrounded by houses because the garden and pool area is large. The shops, restaurants and bars are a 2 minute walk and you can buy everything from fresh bread, to gin and tonic and get a haircut or a wet shave! There are great views across the hills and down to the sea and it is great to barbecue by the pool and watch the stars at night.
