Villa Arianna is an attractive, well-designed, traditional stone built, very comfortable house with 3 spacious bedrooms with air-con. From the terraces there are stunning views west across the bay towards Chania, and inland to the White Mountains. The villa is one of 6 on a quiet cul-de-sac nestled on the west facing slope of the charming village of Prines which has 2 tavernas. It is 10 minutes drive to the town of Rethymno where you can walk around the old Venetian town enjoying the shops and a huge variety of eating establishments. From Prines you are an hour’s drive to both Herkalion and Chania, 3kms drive to the nearest beach and only 50 minutes from the south of the island, where they are some of the best beaches in Greece. Prines - perfect position to see more of amazing Crete. A car is recommended. Travel time to both airports is about 1 hour. From Heraklion airport you join the National Road heading west - stay on this road for 1 hour then turn left up the hill toward Prines.

| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 with en-suite shower room leads onto a generous upper terrace, where you can sit and watch the sunset. Bedroom 2 with double bed is downstairs. Bedroom 3 with twin beds is downstairs. |
| Bathrooms: | Upstairs the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room, vanity unit and mirror. The downstairs large bathroom has a shower cabinet, WC, bidet and sink set in a vanity unit. The washing machine is in this bathroom. |
| Kitchen: | The dining kitchen is well design and equipped to the highest standard. There is a fridge, freezer, electric hob, extractor fan and oven, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine and microwave. The indoor dining area is a very comfortable cushioned alcove. |
| Living Rooms: | The living room is separated from the kitchen by a Creten stone arch. It is furnished to a very high standard of comfort and design. There is flat screen TV, satellite box and DVD. A fire place. All the rooms have mosquito screens fitted on all the widows |
| Other: | The living room has double doors leading onto the covered lower terrace where the outside dining area is situated. There is a gas BBQ and dinning table and chairs over looking the garden and pool. |

Notes on accommodation
There are 2 air-conditioning units, one in the master bedroom and a large unit in the living area to cool the ground floor. Cots and highchairs are available on request. Please ask for them when you book your holiday.
Accessibility
This villa is not suitable for wheelchairs because off the steps from the parking area to the house.
Outside
There are 2 steps down to the garden and the swimming pool and some more step down to the off road parking.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is 3km from the villa. 15 minutes drive west from the villa is the 10km long beach where there is a variety of tavernas, sunbeds, beach sports or you can find a quiet spot to put your towel down. It's a 15 mins drive to the east to the main beach in Rethymno where you will find many water sports. Within one hour you can drive to the south coast where there is a large choice of beaches - some of the best in Greece.
Skiing
The main beach in Rethhymno has a large choice of water sports and there is a Diving Centre 20 mins drive away from Prines.
Travel
The largest airport on the island is Herkalion airport, which is just over 1 hour's driving time to Prines. Chania airport is fractionally nearer but has less choice of flights. From Herkalion airport you take the Nation Road to the west of Rethymno where some one will meet you and lead you to the villa.
Car hire is recommended but there is a bus service from the Prines to Rethymno.

Rethymno town is 10 minutes drive.
Further details
You can order a simple welcome pack of basic foods and drinks to be in the villa when you arrive. In Prines there are two small grocery stores and a taverna which is very popular with the local tourist. In the next village there is a bakery, supermarkets and an ATM machine.
In Rethymno there are many, good quality tavernas - I can recommend: The Avli, The Lemon Tree and Guru's. Along the Beach Road you will find all the normal holiday "things to do": booking scuba diving, bike hire, water sports, place to book day tours etc etc.
If you venture the hours drive down to Ag. Galini on the South Coast the taverna at the campsite - yes the camp site - is very good. If you are anywhere near it is worth a detour.
There is a charming village on the north coast, Panoromo. It is on the far east of Rethymno Bay and it has a good variety of tavernas where you can eat looking over the harbour or in the village lanes. At night the center of the village is closed to traffic and the tables come out on to the narrow lanes making a delightful place to eat, drink and enjoy the summer evenings.
Knossos near Heraklion is just over an hour by car - where you can see the Minoan Palace and then go on to visit the museum in Heraklion.
The fit traveller can enjoy the challenge of the Samaria Gorge 11 mile walk in beautiful Cretan countryside - but you need to bring good walking shoes - this one is not to be done in flip flops!

We stayed at this villa for a month and must say that we settled in very quickly making it our home from home. The villa itself is situated in a beautiful area of Crete with some fantastic views to the Cretan Sea and to the White Mountains, which afford some wonderful sunsets especially when sat with a glass of wine on the upper terrace. The villa itself is very well appointed and is extremely comfortable. The surrounding area is typical rural Crete with nearest village a 10 minute walk, Rethymnon with all its shops and tavernas a short drive away. We would have no hesitation in booking this villa again and in recommending it.
