The Summer House is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the northern mountains of Zakynthos with spectacular uninterrupted views over the Ionian Sea. At the end of a 1 kilometre bumpy drive, the house stands in 4.5 acres of wooded countryside and is totally private. Approached through antique studded doors and a courtyard filled with mandarin orange trees, lavender and scented ivy leaf geraniums, with its raspberry pink walls and hyacinth blue shutters, the feeling is part Provence, part Morocco. Huge shaded terraces, outside fireplaces, polished concrete floors and built in seating are all positioned to take full advantage of the magnificent views.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
Bookings are from Thursday to Thursday.
The price in July and August includes full maid service every other day. Maid service may be arranged at extra cost during other months.
Changeover day
Thursday. (We will try and be flexible on this outside high season).

| Other: | Outside living 'room' with fireplace/barbeque, and more built in seating. Two wooden dining tables accommodate up to 18 people. A short path leads from the terrace through olive trees to the swimming pool. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Towels (not beach towels) and bed linen included. During July and August the house is cleaned by two maids every two days. Outside these months cleaning can be arranged on request. |
Notes on accommodation
Central heating is provided for cooler months with ceiling fans in all bedrooms for high summer. The emphasis throughout is on comfort and relaxation. The beds are wide (most are 6') with goose down pillows, egyptian cotton sheets and generous built in closet space.

Outside
Extensive paved terraces with antique olive jars, olive trees and typical dry-stone walling in acres of secluded grounds. A shower, sun loungers and table tennis table stand on the pool terrace. The large pool has underwater lighting and is serviced daily. Small children should be supervised at all times as the pool is not fenced. There is a floodlit boules pitch at the side of the house.
Coast/Beach
There is a delightful little cove just 5 minutes away by car, and a larger beach with famously blue waters 10 minutes away. Further away Alykes has long beaches with lots of watersports. The Peligoni Club is also about ten minutes drive, with the pretty little port of Aghios Nikolaos just beyond.
Travel
Zakynthos Airport - 40 minutes drive. Car hire is essential.
Distances
There are many local tavernas both in the port and in the pretty village of Volimes (up the hill behind the house). A small local shop is at the end of the drive. For the more adventurous, a ferry goes to Cephalonia daily, Alykes with its bars, supermarkets and cashpoint machines is 30 minutes by car,whilst the young might enjoy the clubs in Laganas, 45 minutes away at the South of the island.
Further details
Northern Zakynthos is unspoilt, with its olive groves, ancient villages, and pine covered hills sloping down to impossibly blue seas. The peace is broken only by the sound of goat bells as they forage around the ruins of Venetian monasteries, and dry stone walls.
The famous shipwreck beach is close by - accessible either by car or boat from the little port of Aghios Nicalaos.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of 20% of the rental is required to secure the booking and the balance is payable in either euros or sterling 30 days before arrival. A returnable £200 breakage deposit is payable at this stage too.
