Orchard Villa is set close to the sea in a ½-acre hillside garden and olive grove with pool and stunning views. Architect-designed with traditional blue wooden shutters, red-tiled roofs, also roof terrace, exposed wood-beam ceilings, large flag-stoned split-level lounge with bar, open-plan kitchen, and open log fireplace (for show in summer!). Sleeps ideally 6 (8 max.), : master bedroom with en-suite bathroom; 3 twin bedrooms sharing 2 shower-rooms (all air-conditioned); From lounge, 4 French windows open onto a wide vine-covered walled patio for outdoor meals/barbecues, above beautiful rose and flower gardens with sunbathing terraces down to an infinity-view pool, all with panoramic views considered locally as best on Skiathos - even the Mediterranean! Orchard Villa sits on a low wooded ridge looking out over Skiathos Bay across Achladies and Vassilias beaches; some scattered villas nearby, and 2 small family hotels with scenic pools/bars open to you.

Notes on prices
Prices per week of occupancy in a minimum 2-week rental with up to 6 beds taken. Discounts or premiums apply to other periods or change-over day - which is normally Friday, others possible. Orchard Villa has 8 beds plus bed-settee for youngster, but is ideally for 6 adults, or 4 adults + 4/5 kids if a degree of crowding is acceptable.Terms: to book, 50% on account; balance 10 clear weeks before start. You must Insure fully against travel risks, cancellation, and accidents at the villa.

Bedrooms: 1 en-suite master bedroom (king-size), 3 twin guest bedrooms. So we can sleep up to 8; but ideally 6 as the 4th twin is a squeeze for adults. Night air-conditioning in bedroooms (supplement for daytime).
Bathrooms: Master bedroom wing has en-suite bath, bidet, wc, wash-basin, shower. 3 guest wing bedrooms share 2 separate shower rooms, with wc, shower, wash-basin.
Kitchen: All virtually new: cooker with ceramic hobs / hood, microwave, toaster, elec. kettle, filter coffee, 2 fridges with 3* freezer compartments, work surface, double sink, dishwasher, washing machine, cook-book library, wine rack, plenty of storage.
Utility Room: Washing machine, dish-washer - see kitchen; iron and board, clothes-drying racks (outside - tumble-dryers not needed in summer!).
Living Rooms: Large flag-stoned split-level lounge (40m²/430sq.ft) with English-pub style bar/stools, and open-plan kitchen. 4 French windows open onto large furnished patio 50m²/540ft² with garden/sea view. TV, video, hi-fi, CDs/tapes.
Other: Most visitors use the lounge patio as continuation of the lounge living/dining space... sheltered from wind, warm enough 'til after midnight most of the summer. With all four French windows open to the lounge hi-fi, it's your own concert-hall terrace!
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Included is bed and bath linen (NOT BEACH TOWELS)which is changed weekly. Also included is change-over housekeeping and light cleaning of patios each week. Gardening and pool cleaning is also provided.

 

Notes on accommodation
The bedrooms are air-conditioned, although a lot of the summer it is not needed. The villa and grounds are very suitable for children, particularly if the party prefers to stay here with little "beaching". The pool has only one access point to keep children away from danger, but all non-swimmers near the pool should be under adult supervision.

Accessibility
Orchard Villa is very practical for partial mobility (lived there afer a double hip replacement!), front door a few feet away from level car access but not pracical if wholly wheel-chair bound (and... whilst looking for a villa, remember even if no mobilty problems much Greek island accomodation may be a long way &/or very steep from nearest vehicle access).

Outside
Lounge living space effectively extends onto a large walled and vine-shaded patio (50m²/430ft²) with almond and olive tree and a panoramic view over a ½-acre private garden and olive/fig grove with two further terraces downhill to private 8m x 5m (27' x 16')infinity sea-view pool, all with views considered locally to be the best on the island - even the Mediterranean! Full outside living possible with chairs-tables-small barbecue etc.; parties and sun-bathing on garden terraces and secluded roof terrace.

Coast/Beach
Skiathos has a spectacular coastline of bays, islands, and over 50 beaches/coves within 5-20 mins drive. Most are sandy, and with tavernas except the smallest. The dozen or so largest have watersports, sunbeds, etc.; there's small-boat hire for fishing or just pottering, 2 scuba diving schools, water-sking, parascending, fun speed-boat tows, sailing, snorkelling, horse-riding, and walks. Closest beaches 1km/½ mile or so (15-20 min walk) downhill.

Travel
Skiathos airport 12 mins. drive (no intrusive noise at villa); charter flights from many UK airports and Europe; also scheduled flights to Athens, on to Skiathos by daily local flight or coach/hydrofoil. Car hire recommended, otherwise use the efficient radio taxis or island buses. Ferries, hydrofoils, water taxis and day-trip boats to nearby islands and the mainland. For long lets: UK by car/ferries in 3-3½ days (Europe 2-2½ days), virtually all motorway.

Distances
Picturesque stone-built Skiathos village with shops, all services, harbour, marina, and tavernas-bars-clubs, is 10 mins. drive, 50 mins. hill walk. Day ferry/hydrofoil or excursion boat trips to other islands and marine park (dolphins/seals), also day-trips (just about ...) to classic mainland sites (Athens-Delphi-Meteora).
