Casa Lucia is a relaxed, friendly place, lovingly restored into self-catering units set in beautiful gardens with swimming pool. Some of the buildings date from Venetian times and all the original features, clay-tile roofs, stone arches, cross-beamed ceilings have been retained; they are comfortably furnished, excellently equipped and maintained. It is home to the owners who have created a gentle atmosphere that brings people back year after year.

Notes on accommodation
Ceiling and/or table fans are provided in every room even though the thick stone walls keep the cottages cool. Central heating for cool spring or autumn evenings. Beach umbrellas and towels provided, cool box on request, baby cots/high chairs at no charge.
Accessibility
The Gardener's Cottage is suitable for wheelchair users: car parking is within 8 metres of front door.
Outside
The swimming pool is shared only by Casa Lucia guests: it has recently been redecorated with beautiful mosaics; 80 sq.m; lm to 2.5m in depth, shallow end for children; sunbeds (no charge), shady kiosks with dining tables and chairs. The gardens are landscaped with fruit trees, olive, cypress, quince and judas trees, large lawns and glorious flower beds. Each cottage has its own private outdoor space with tables, chairs, sunbeds and umbrellas, but the main lawn is for everyone's enjoyment, as well as for activities such as t'ai chi and yoga; individual BBQs are provided, and there is also a larger one with use of large patio/dining area for groups or friends sharing a meal.
Coast/Beach
CasaLucia in the middle of the island is a great base to explore the many beaches. Dassia is 4km away on the east coast which has rocky coves, warmer waters,excellent for snorkeling and best for caique trips. Palaiocastritsa 12 km is on the west coast which generally has long sandy beaches on the open sea, wonderful for sunset vistas. Corfu has the cleanest waters in the Mediterranean. Most watersports are available at most beaches, which also usually have very good family-run fish tavernas.
Golf
Ermones Golf Course, 8 km away, one of the finest in the Mediterranean.
Special interest holidays
Our annual Great Escapes programme includes workshops in t'ai chi, qigong, yoga, poetry and art amongst other activities - suggestions from teachers are always welcome. Zoe Valerie, dancer and movement therapist, has recently returned to Casa Lucia and founded Estia, a home and venue for visiting artists (details on the website). Performances and concerts take place quite frequently - the main studio has particularly good acoustics. Guests can take part free of charge in the regular t'ai chi, qigong, yoga classes; and make appointments on site for Swedish massage, aromatherapy, Thai massage, shiatsu, reiki, beauty treatments all with fully qualified practitioners. The main reception and garden spaces can be used for wedding groups, family reunions, talks, discussions and meetings.
Travel
Capodistria Airport Kerkyra (Corfu) 12 km - taxis can be taken from the rank to get to Casa Lucia, known to all drivers - about 25 euros. Glad to say that the running of the airport is hugely improved. Corfu International and Local Ports 10 km, frequent ferry service from Italy, and from Igoumenitsa on the Greek mainland. Radio taxis can be called on 26610 - 33811. Car hire is recommended but not essential as there is a good bus service and taxis are reasonable and can be quickly summoned.
Distances
12km to Corfu town, one of the loveliest in the islands, now a UNESCO World Heritage site with its picturesque historic centre, museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants. There is an open-air cinema, concerts and performances take place under the stars in the Old and New Forts, and Mon Repos theatre. New venues, Ambelona, 7 Arts,and our own Estia show an exciting new flowering of talent and culture in the younger generation of Corfiots. Old hill villages show the traditional side of Corfu

Within a 5-minute walk you will find the famous Lucciola Inn, whose new young owners Daphne and Tom have reopened the bar, bio-bistro and activity centre with great success, a lovely setting with delicious food including her grandmother's famous chicken pie - great Margarita cocktails, Ionian draught beer. Here too is the mini market, which sells just about everything, and the bus stop. A bit further away are Corfu Ceramics,making the most beautiful selection of original ware. Within 2 km we find the post office, supermarkets, more restaurants, ATMs; and a children's play centre at Kontokali, 6km. The Gouvia Marina is 3km away. Horse-riding can be arranged with pick-up from Casa Lucia; boat/bicycle/car hire can all be arranged in advance (recommended for high season) or on the spot.

About the owner
Val has lived in Corfu for over 30 years - she is the widow of Dennis Androutsopoulos, whose original vision brought them to Corfu. He did all the restoration work at Casa Lucia and laid out the gardens. Val has run the place all these years, and now to her great joy their daughter Zoe has returned to live and work here with her two grandchildren. Thus the family business is sure to continue - it has always been as much a family home as a business. We speak English, Greek, French, German and a little Dutch.

A calm yet stimulating place, full of lovely corners in the gardens, with privacy respected, or friendly contacts easily made. Many activities and therapies if desired: or plenty of time to relax, swim, sunbathe, read, and revitalize. The Lucciola restaurant, now newly re-opened, is a boon both for ourselves as well as our guests, just down the road and the best food on the island.
