Villa Nikos is the easternmost of 3 holiday villas on a hillside close to Stavromenos, above the bay of Rethymnon in Crete. The 3 houses on the 8,000 sqm property attach to each other. Each of them has it's own private garden, sun terrace and swimming pool on the facility's sea front. The gardens are separated from each other by high fences which are overgrown by flowers. Views range far over the bay and the sea, and towards Cape Scaleta as well as to the Kouloukonas Mountains in the East. The nearest sandy beach is an 800m footwalk away. Villa Nikos has 80sqm of dwelling space on 2 floors and provides 5 beds. In the living room there is a convertible sofa which on demand will serve as a sixth accommodation (against a 10 euros surcharge per night). The main entrance is located at the east front. On 3 sides the villa is framed by gardens. On the west side it borders on the neighbouring villa.

Changeover day
The is no preferred changeover day, and reservations can be made for any duration of stay. Check in is possible from 2pm on, check out should be done till 11am. Different times can individually be arranged if there is enough time for cleaning.

Kitchen: Open plan kitchen has all essential pots and pans, plates and dishes, cutlery and glassware, integrated refrigerator/freezer, electric hob with 4 plates, oven, extractor fan, microwave oven, coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster.
Utility Room: Iron and board are available.
Living Rooms: The living area on the ground floor includes couch set, satellite TV, DVD/CD players, open fireplace (firewood is available - except during the high summer). Wide glass sliding doors at the sea front of the living-room open to the terrace and the garden.
Other: Dining area with table and chairs.

Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes and separate air-conditioning units which can be switched to heating mode during chilly nights or in wintertime.

A First-Aid kit and a safe deposit box provided. Solar water heating with auxiliary electric heating. Both water and electricity (also for the air-conditioning units) are included in the rates.

Outside
Garden furniture, deck chairs and large umbrellas are available. The swimming pool is 23sqm of size - framed by natural stone and located about in the middle of the garden. The shallow section in the swimming pool is 90cm deep, the maximum depth is 1.60m.

Green lawns frame the swimming pool and terrace, and the garden borders are decorated with small olive-trees, flowers and other ornamental plants.

At dusk, the lamps in the foregarden switch on automatically while the lamps in the gardens can be switched on and off individually.

The pool is operated from April - November. A barbecue set is also available. You will find it (as far as not in use) under the inner stairs.

Coast/Beach
The nearest sandy beach is an 800m footwalk away.

Travel
Iraklion airport (HER) is 79km away, Hania airport (CHQ) 82km.
With respect to the winding character of the motor highway, transfer times from and to the airports must not be underestimated.

The owner of the facility also runs one of Crete's major car rental companies so you can book your car from/to the airport or port together with your villa.

Distances
Stavromenos is one of the villages in the eastern part of the bay of Rethymnon. The villas are about 300 meters from the village center. The new national road from Rethymnon (12 kms) to Iraklion (71 kms) runs between the village and the beach. There is an hourly public bus service, during the season every 30 minutes.

Further details
At Stavromenos there are several supermarkets, a butcher's shop, tavernas, kafenions, a pharmacy and some other shops. Down on the coast there are several bigger hotels, and during the season a variety of shops and restaurants are open. One very popular restaurant at Stavromenos is open all year. During the season there are many watersports on offer on the beach along the bay such as para-sailing, waterski and jet skiing. A watersport center and the Atlantis Diving Center are located by one of the bigger hotels.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can also be found in the villages along the bay during the season, and all-year in the picturesque Venetian Old Town of Rethymnon.

Booking notes
Any reservations should be made using the 'Rates and Availability' form set in the official web site. With confirmation, the owner will issue a detailed invoice and send it to you by e-mail. The invoice will also show the reservation and handling costs (20% of the grand total) which will be levied as a down payment. The remaining amount (80% of the grand total) is due upon arrival, and to be paid straight to the owner.
