The stretch of coast between Kyparissia and Pyrgos has been untouched by tourism and has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Peloponnesian including a 60 km stretch of white sand running from just below the village all the way to Pyrgos. Inland you immediately see the mountains and there are endless ancient sites, villages and walks to be discovered without any effort at all. Just head in any direction and discover. This a typical rural Peloponnesian community. Predominantly it’s a farming community of olives, sheep and vines. There are wonderful tavernas in the local villages. Kyparissia and Pyrgos are the main market town (15-20 min. away). Here you find shops, banks, restaurants, bars and Greek nightclubs! The village of Agaliani also has a tiny cafe which looks exactly as it must have 100 years ago, with photos of the owner Costas getting married on his horse. The Kafenion chairs and table spill out onto the road.

Accommodation
Check availability The Old Stone House
The Old Stone House has a wall running around the garden perimeter which includes olive and coconut trees and the covered pool (Small swimming pool, 11 square metres with two sun terraces). There are 5 terraces in all, including at least three dining areas, one covered for shade. Hooks are in place for hammocks to be hung near the pool or on one of the lower terraces near the mulberry tree. The whole house has been designed with safety gates for small children on all steps and stairs as well as on both routes to the pool. The main room is exceptionally large and takes up most of the first floor - with glass replacing most of the sea facing wall to give views of Kefalonia and Zante as well as the village below. The bathroom is a beautifully designed and spacious room where the tub has views of the sea (plus shower fitting). The extra shower is outside on the main terrace below the pool (hot and cold). 2 double & 1 twin bedrooms. Great in winter and summer.

This very stylish studio conversion from an old stone building is on the edge of the village of Agaliani, right opposite The Old Stone House. All the charm and warmth of the old building has been kept with modern comfort, air conditioning and double fronted glass across the front wall to allow lovely views of the mountains around; this opens out onto a walled terrace with hammock, coconut tree and outside dining area. The locals call it 'The Villa' as appreciation of its new found glory. The main double bedroom lies on a mezzanine level reached via a hand made spiral staircase. The second bedroom has two bunk beds. The bathroom has a bath and washing machine. Mountain bikes are available for hire and walks and bike rides literally start at the front door in all directions. The road does not go past this point so no cars will pass by as you sit on your terrace contemplating life. Ideal for an extra family or grandparents or nanny etc.

This property will sleep 10 comfortably. It would be ideal for 2 families or a family wanting separate accommodation option for grandparents or nannies, etc. It is made up of two self contained units: The Stone House (6) and Papous' House (4). The properties are both walled and gated in beautifully designed whitewashed stone - a Moorish look. They are separated by a small track - so if you rent both, then all the occupants can use the outside facilities of both properties, wandering across to the small pool or just lying on one of the many terraces or in a hammock. Because the local Greeks sleep in the summer afternoons (the 'Mesi Meri') we have decided that this is not available to large groups who wish to party and make a noise. We wish them well but not in this tranquil spot.

All properties are air-conditioned, managed locally and have fires for winter usage.

Further details
The Peloponnese is a rugged land with a mountainous interior and unspoilt beaches, an island connected to the mainland by two new bridges with spectacular views across the Bay of Corinth.
The climate is purely Mediterranean along the coasts, unlike the center which has a relatively continental climate. A mythical land whose every corner brings to mind some Greek myth, the Peloponnese has more important ancient sites than any other island or country, these include Sparta, Mycenae, Corinth, Olympia, Ancient Figalia, Epidaurus, Mistras, Monemvassia and Ithomi to name but a few. Helen of Troy was from The Peloponnese. Kalamata Olives are famous the world over.
