The villa is in a very quiet hillside location above a deep valley, overlooking the Aegean Sea and the next island of Skopelos and then Alonnisos. A long track leads down to the villa from the road above. Parking is alongside. We are next to land owned by the Monastery of Evangelistria. The town is 10 minutes away by car which you will need! We face East, so sunrises over Alonnisos greet you in the morning. In the evening the setting sun bathes Skopelos Island in a soft glow leaving Illiolousti Thea in cool 'shade'. The patio has a large sun canopy with picnic table and chairs and is surrounded by mature olive trees. We have no pool as Skiathos boasts more than 60 sandy beaches. There are lots of tavernas both in the town and also high above the villa where you can sit and look over the town to Evia and the mainland. Prices are for the villa per night in euros, and have been held at 2008 levels for this coming year.
Changeover day
We are flexible generally, but Friday changeovers do help us to fit in all bookings without 'lost' days.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | First floor, bed 1 has a double bed and bed 2, 2 singles. The salon downstairs has a luxury large double sofabed. All have mosquito nets, the bedroom ones being permanently fixed, the salon one being stored upstairs. Bedrooms and salon are air conditioned |
| Bathrooms: | There are 2 bathrooms. 1 upstairs between the 2 bedrooms, where there is a shower, wash-basin and toilet. The second bathroom is downstairs and has the same facilities. |
| Kitchen: | The fitted kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, microwave, small electric oven with 3 hotplates. There is also a washing machine and marble topped table with 6 chairs. |
| Utility Room: | There is no separate utility room. |
| Living Rooms: | The comfortable salon has 2 three-seater sofas. 1 is a large sofa bed that could be left out if required. A mosquito net is available with a hook for it in the beamed ceiling, it is not left up but stored upstairs. There are also 3 stacking tables. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
The property is cleaned at the beginning and end of each rental period with intermediate cleans each week. Linen and towels are provided and regularly changed. |
Notes on accommodation
As mentioned earlier, air conditioning is provided. However, the site is not fenced and some parts are quite steep although not precipitious, so very young children would need supervision.

Accessibility
The villa is not designed with wheelchair access in mind.
Outside
Again, as mentioned earlier, there are 'facilities' outside for meals but no barbecue is provided as there is a potential fire risk with olives! There is shade from several mature olives.
Coast/Beach
Skiathos is spoilt for beautiful beaches. Some have watersports available. All the south coast ones are sandy and very safe for children. Most of them also have taveras. The nearest town beach is a 10 mins drive away. The other end of the island is only half an hour, some 8 miles or so, but of course numerous corners! Inland is beautifully forested with pines, oaks and many other trees. The Sporades are known as the greenest islands in Greece so a walk inland is a must. Find the unspoilt N/W!
Travel
A car is essential for our villa as the road up is steep. Our own web site has a link to reliable car hire. Pick-up and pay at the airport. Leave the car there when you finish your holiday!

Nowhere is very far on Skiathos!
Further details
Our villa has an extensive file of information to help you, compiled by us over many years of visiting the island. There are, of course, many good boat trips available from the old port (Skiathos Town), round the island and further afield. The monastery of Evangelistria, near us is a must too. It is also possible to go to Meteora and Athens during your stay. If you like boats then go day sailing or hire your own and go round the island to find those secluded coves on the N/W coast.
