Villa Alsoneiro offers a lovely setting for a relaxing holiday in Western Crete and is situated walking distance from the local village of Plaka and 15-20 mins walk from the seaside town of Almerida. The villa provides comfortable accommodation for 6 persons and includes Satellite/DVD, fitted kitchen and much more. The double balcony offers a breathtaking view of Souda Bay where you can often see the ferries coming and going from the other Greek Islands. To the right the contrasting mountain scenery finishes off the panoramic views of the surrounding area, if you can drag yourself away from the view, the large private patio downstairs is an ideal place to enjoy a family BBQ or simply to relax in the sun, using the loungers provided. The garden features a variety of local plants including various herbs which create a lovely aroma as the sun goes down. Furnished to a high standard the Villa offers a comfortable stay for visitors of all ages and includes air-conditioning throughout.

Ideal changeover days are Tuesday's for Chania airport but Heraklion airport offers a selection of days. All requests will be accommodated where possible please enquire.

Bedrooms: Villa Alsoneiro comprises 2 bedrooms in total; 1 double, 1 twin both with doors to the balcony and the views of Souda Bay. Air-conditioning in both rooms. A safe is provided along with hairdryer and full length mirror. A cot is available on request.
Bathrooms: The First floor has a spacious family shower room, WC, shaving mirror/point.
The Ground floor has a shower room, WC, shaving mirror/point.
Kitchen: The Villa offers a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, microwave, coffee maker, iron/board, juicer, full size cooker, fridge freezer and large seating area for 6. A high chair is available on request.
Living Rooms: Comfortable double sofa bed, Wicker sofa and coffee table, TV, DVD and Satellite TV, DVD films and book selection for guests use including a selection of children's Disney movies for when its time to get out of the midday sun! Full air-conditioning.
Other: The Porch offers a table and chairs for 6 and is located at the front of the villa over looking the pool (pool size 8m x 5m). The patio area to the left is fenced providing a safe area and therefore ideal for families. Car parking is provided.

Notes on accommodation
The Villa offers various comfortable areas to relax. The patio is a suntrap during the day and an ideal area to relax on the loungers. The large porch area overlooks the pool and provides a table with seating area for up to 6. An ideal place for Breakfast or Lunch. The pool is lit at night and provides a stunning effect until the lights go out at around midnight. The upstairs balcony offers an unforgettable panoramic view of the bay both during the day and at night when the bay comes alive with lights across the water.
Airconditioning is provided through out and can double up as heating during the winter months making Villa Alsoneiro an ideal location for a winter stay.

Accessibility
4 stone steps give access to the Villa Grounds with a small step to the porch area.

Outside
Villa Alsoneiro directly overlooks the pool area which is shared by 4 other properties. The patio, garden & balcony are all private. The pool has a ladder for accessibility. Villa Alsoneiro provides everything required for a relaxing holiday in the sun and is ideally located to visit the surrounding area which includes Samaria Gorge, Lake Koudos, Chania Port,Water Park & various local villages & towns which offer a selection of tavernas & bars to suit all tastes. The Village of Plaka is picturesque and offers several local restaurants with outdoor seating which provides an ideal way to enjoy the atmosphere of a Greek Village whilst enjoying local specialities such as Souvlaki & Kleftico. A visit to Takis Bar in the main square is a must for those wishing to watch sporting events in a low key setting.

Coast/Beach
The pretty shallow bay of Almerida is a 15-20 min walk away where a variety of shops, restaurants (including an ice cream Palour, Pizza/Pasta & a host of fish/local tavernas) can be found.Money exchange, car hire & cash point are also available & a taxi rank for those wishing to take the easy route back home at the end of a relaxing day on the beach. The beach is sandy and shallow and hosts a local water sports hire center (non motorised) who can also provide lessons for windsurfing etc.

Special interest holidays
The area around the villa is famous for its walking tours and trips to Samaria Gorge would be a must for the enthusiast. Two water parks are located on the island with the nearest being 30mins drive. Chania harbour is a lovely area to explore with a variety of local shops and curios stalls. The Market in Chania hosts a variety of local produce including fish, meats and local herbs and spices. Lake Koudos is a short drive away & provides an alternative setting to the seaside. The beach of Almerida is an ideal spot for sunworshipers and families as its shallow waters provide a safe area to paddle, build sand castles & have fun beside the sea. Sunbeds are available on the beach (a small cost is involved) and as the tavernas are within a few steps, Almerida is an ideal spot to enjoy a cold beer or glass of retsina at lunchtime.

Travel
Chania Airport - 25mins drive. Heraklion Airport - 1.45 - 2hrs drive along the easy coast road. Car hire is recommended although taxi fares are reasonable and prices can be arranged on request. A local bus service and various excursions can be booked from Almerida.

Distances
Plaka village is an 5 - 10 min walk, Almerida is 15 - 20mins, Local interests include the historic city of Chania with its bustling port and water park.

Further details
The village of Plaka hosts a good selection of excellent restaurants many of which are renoun for their high standard of local food. There is also a small number of snack bars and two mini markets. Further on Almerida and Kalives offer a larger choice of restaurants. Plaka offers two small supermarkets where you can buy just about everything from the local wine to fresh vegetables and frozen pizza! A larger supermarket can be located on the coast road just outside of Kalives.

Booking notes
A deposit of £100 per week is required. All final payments must be paid 8 weeks before departure in the form of cheque or bank transfer. Credit Cards are accepted as form of payment but only through a paypal account and incur a 1% charge via paypal. A £140 security deposit is also required which will be returned at the end of your stay. The safe is free of charge(booking conditions will be sent out at the time of booking your holiday).

Just had to drop you a line to say that the holiday was wonderful, just what we needed.
Your villa is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for going down to Plaka for the delicious meals at the tavernas! Can't believe the generosity of the portions and such good value.
The views from the balcony/patios were lovely too.
We enjoyed walking around the area, up to Kokino Chorio, Kambia etc. We had a lovely drive to Vamos and stopped in a few places on the way. Chania is beautiful and Rethymno lovely too. We did the history trip to Knossos and Paestos which were very interesting.

All in all we had a wonderful time and are most grateful to our friend Alan, for the recommendation. We were glad to have chosen that particular fortnight as opposed to later in the year as the temperature was hotting up well in the 2nd week!
