Special interest holidays
The area can delight many tastes and interests. Minoan history is just on the doorstep. Walking in the area is stunning and you can start your walk from the villa and go into the Thripti range. For those more energetic and experienced the Ha Canyon starts from Monastiraki and is one of the most challenging gorges in Europe.
The birdlife is very varied, particularly as we are on the migration routes from Africa. Guests have been amazed by the variety of birds they have seen in the area, from the smallest warblers to the giant Griffin Vultures.
Monastiraki is at the foot of the Thripti mountain range which is one of the best sites in Crete to see a wide variety of Orchids. Alistair and Suzanne can assist you in these areas as they have a great interest in the nature of Crete.
Olive oil is one of the main agricultural products of the area. Although the olives are collected in the winter, there is much to do throughout the year if you want to experience how things are done.

'A delightful villa, wonderfully equipped, surrounded by notable scenery. Facilities unequalled with the added interest of history and the Cretan culture. Delicious food at the taverna – loved the dolmades and visits to the bakery. As keen bird watchers – sighted our first Eleanora’s Falcon – another one to our list! Fantastic. Returning home refreshed and brown and very thankful' - Greg and Janice.

Everything about the villa has been perfect, all we could have wanted has been thoughtfully provided. The pool is great the beautiful garden and a view to die for.At Captain Yiannis’ taverna we tasted wonderful Cretan cuisine, so fresh and well cooked we visited often. Also Zorba’s Taverna in Pachia Ammos a fine family run taverna with an extensive menu to suit all tastes.Tholos beach was beautiful and lunch at the small taverna was delicious.
