This is a small family run set of six apartments having recently been renovated to provide comfortable, well equipped accommodation, set in their own large gardens set back from the road. Each has its own kitchen and bathroom with either single or double beds and outside veranda. All apartments have use of a large BBQ area set under a wisteria pergola. All are equipped with air-conditioning/heating and TV. The bakery and bus stop are less than a minute away, and the village centre with its amenities only a 4 minute stroll away. Private off road parking is provided.

| The 2 bedroom apartments all have a double bed in the main living/sleeping area and 2 single beds in the second bedroom. There is a large shower room with walk in shower, toilet and washhand basin. The fully fitted kitchen is to the rear of the large living area and is equipped with the same facilities as the studio. The apartment has its own covered veranda to the front with table and chairs for alfresco living. There is an optional additional rear patio area leading from the second bedroom, providing a secluded sitting area. | |
Notes on accommodation
All apartments have air-conditioning/units available at an additional daily charge of 5 euros, payable as required. The property is fully enclosed making it suitable for children. In addition, all the accommodation is on the ground floor, providing easy access for those with walking difficulties. Maid service is supplied twice weekly.
Outside
Our apartments are unusual in that we have a large purpose built BBQ area with traditional oven and grill. There is a bar and washing up area with a large cooler which all guests can use. The owners are on hand to provide assistence in how to use the equipment. The area is an ideal meeting place for guests wanting to do their own thing in the evening, with ample tables and chairs set under a wisteria covered pergola.
Coast/Beach
Stoupa is well known for its 3 beaches. Stoupa main beach is a crescent of natural sand with a small fishing harbour at one end and a shallow, sheltered bay at the other. Kalogria's sandy beach is a favourite with families as it dips shallowly into the sea, and is only a five minute stroll from the main beach. Halikoura beach is at the southern end of Stoupa, a couple of minutes in the other direction, providing quieter sunbathing. All beaches are supplied by tavernas for snacks and drinks.
Travel
The nearest airport is Kalamata which is an hour's drive away (open May to October). Alternately there are daily flights into Athens all year round (4.5 hours drive). Stoupa is very well equipped for day to day needs but if you wish to sightsee then a car can be hired locally or there are organised coach or boat trips around the area. Ferries come into Patras from Italy approx. 5 hours drive away.

Traditional villages of Kardamili -5km, and Areopoli -40km. Mountain villages of Pigi, Pirgos and Saidona -3 to 8km. Kambos Gorge with the Profitis Elias Church near Kentro -23km. Diros Caves (guided boat ride through stalactite caverns) -50km. Historic family towers of Kita and Vathia -75km. Ancient Messini -65km. Palace of Nestor -87km. Ancient Olympia -175km. Mystras -105km.
Further details
Stoupa is geared to the family market and visitors can find a good range of facilities with numerous tavernas (some open all year), supermarkets, chemist, bakeries, ice cream parlours and tourist shops. There is no bank in the village but there are to ATMs and money can be exchanged in local travel agencies or in the supermarket. There are two doctors surgeries in Stoupa and the health centre is only 4km away in the neighbouring fishing village of Ag. Nikolaos. Stoupa will suit those wanting a low key, friendly resort, and is a popular destination for many who come year after year, looking for a friendly holiday in Greece.
Stoupa is an ideal base for the more adventurous who want to tour the Mani peninsula or travel further afield to ancient Messinias or the famous Olympia (home of the Olympic games). Regular tours can be bought from the travel agent in the village, or for those more independent travellers, there are several car hire firms providing cars from your accommodation. As the owners live on site, and speak excellent English, they will be more than happy to help you with information on what to do in the area.
Booking notes
Please check availability of accommodation either by email or on the telephone with us. Bookings will be confirmed upon payment of a 50 euro/week (£35) non refundable deposit into a Greek bank account. The balance is due 2 weeks before the arrival date by transfer into a bank account. Alternately cash in euros can be paid on arrival.
