Ideally situated in Crete's Apokoronas region, considered by many to be the island's most beautiful area, Villa Sinefo Ennea is in an elevated position with stunning sea views and stands in its own fully enclosed garden within a small select development. The pool, shared with four other villas, is to the rear of the house. Parents can relax in the upper area of the garden while keeping an eye on children in the pool. The garden surrounding the property is on two levels, with private areas for sunbathing or sitting in the shade. It features bougainvilleas, hibiscus, palms, bamboo, fruit trees and cacti. Sunbeds and deckchairs are provided. Plaka village square, with its excellent tavernas, and mini market is a mere five minute walk downhill. The blue flag beach at Almyrida can be reached in 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes on foot. This picturesque seaside village offers several beachside tavernas, sailing, windsurfing, mountain bike and car hire, as well as supermarkets and shops.

Changeover day
The changeover day for Chania flights is on a Tuesday or Saturday, however visitors arriving on other flights or via Souda ferry port may be accommodated and arrival/departure dates can be flexible.

Bedrooms: The 2 bedrooms share a balcony with lovely sea and country views. Each has air con, ceiling fan, wardrobe, bedside cabinets, mirror and hairdryer.

Duvets are provided for the cooler months.
Bathrooms: The villa has a first floor bathroom and a ground floor shower room. The shower room has tiled walk in shower, basin with cabinet above and wc. The spacious bathroom has bath/shower over, basin with cabinet above, wc and washing machine.
Kitchen: The modern kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable stay: full cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, ironing facilities, cafetiere and the vital wine glasses and bottle opener! Dining area with extending table and chairs.
Living Rooms: The airy lounge is furnished to a high standard in modern style with a double stylish sofa bed, leather chair and coffee table. Wall mounted CD/MP3 player, wide screen LED TV with satellite and DVD. The French window overlooks Plaka and the sea.
Other: The staircase bookshelf holds a wide range of reading matter to suit all tastes, including guidebooks and descriptions of local walks. A selection of DVDs and CDs are kept in the lounge but you might wish to bring your own favourites.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is fully air-conditioned. Oil filled radiators are provided for early and late season visitors. Water is heated by means of solar power, backed up by electricity. The shared 40m2 pool is situated on the next level up to the rear/side of the property. The property has been awarded the Greek tourist board EOT licence and complies fully with Greek fire regulations.

Accessibility
The villa is accessed from the the car park area down several stone steps.

Outside
The attractive private garden surrounding the property is on 2 levels and provides several private areas for sunbathing or relaxing in the shade. A wide variety of Mediterranean plants, including bougainvillea, palms, fruit trees and cacti are becoming established. Sunbeds and deckchairs are provided together with a portable barbecue. The covered ground floor terrace is furnished with a modern glass table and matching chairs ideal for alfresco dining. The first floor balcony has table, chairs and pergola. Guests can enjoy both sea and mountain views while swimming in the pool. The pool terrace provides an alternative area for sunbathing. A particular feature of this villa is its open front aspect that affords magnificent views over Plaka village to Souda Bay from both ground and first floor levels. The garden is fully enclosed and gated providing privacy and also security for younger children.

Coast/Beach
The villa is situated on the edge of Plaka village with views of Souda Bay and the Akrotiri peninsula. The traditional village square with its excellent tavernas, bars and supermarket can be reached on foot in 5 minutes. The seaside village of Almyrida and its blue flag beach is a further 15 minutes downhill on foot, or 5 minutes by car.
Chania, with its famous Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, was once the island's capital and is only a 30 minute drive.

Travel
Chania airport is a 30 minute drive, Heraklion airport is 90 minutes away and Souda ferry port 20 minutes.

Distances
The villa is at the edge of Plaka village, 5 minutes walk to the square. The blue flag family beach at Almyrida is 5 minutes by car or 15 mins walk. The larger Kalives, 10 minutes by car, also has a good beach and a wider range of shops. Nearby villages include Kokkino Chorio, Drapanos and Gavalochori.
The city of Chania is a 30 minute drive west and Georgioupoli and Rethymno are less than an hour away to the east. The White Mountains are easily accessible by car.

Further details
Sinefo Ennea is ideally suited to a wide range of guests and we have had positive and enthusiastic feedback from recent guests, including several returning guests. There were couples seeking the chance to 'chill out'; a baby's first holiday; energetic under 10's; older children and their parents; teenagers; people who hired cars; those who explored on foot and by taxi and some who even fell in love with Plaka! Plaka comes alive in the evenings and its tavernas all serve excellent food. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The village of Plaka and surrounding area was featured in the film of Zorba the Greek.

Plaka has a small, well-stocked, supermarket with friendly owner and competitive prices. It has a range of cafes and bars and a petrol station. Taki's Bar and Totem Cafe have internet access. A must to visit is the Emerald Bar with its breathtaking bay views, particularly at sunset.

Almirida provides a wider selection of eating places, most are on the beachfront with views over the sea to the twinkling lights of the Akrotiri peninsula. A wi-fi internet cafe/bar is also available. Two local car hire companies, Autoclub and Flisvos, have offices in Almirida.

The nearest bank and pharmacy are located in Kalives, a 10 minute drive. A not-to-be-missed experience in Kalives is the popular Zorbas taverna opposite the church where your meal will be punctuated by the loud chimes of the church clock.

The closest health centre to Plaka is situated in Vamos (15 minutes by car) and Chania has the nearest hospital (30 minutes).

Booking notes
All prices from April to October include a welcome pack, weekly maid service, air conditioning, use of digital safe and all utility bills, telephone allowance. A deposit of £100 per week is payable upon booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before departure and payment is accepted in pounds or euros. A refundable security deposit of £100 is also charged to cover the cost of any damages and telephone usage. A high chair, cot and baby bath can be hired for a weekly charge - please request details.

Hello and thank you for viewing our villa. We are a family with a passion for Greece. In the past we spent our holidays visiting many different islands, but found ourselves returning to Crete again and again. The island has so much to offer - culture, history, stunning scenery, fantastic beaches, sunshine, cuisine, a healthy outdoor lifestyle and, above all, an enthusiastic welcome. Definitely something for everyone. We enjoy constantly improving our villa to ensure our guests can relax in home from home comfort. We have particularly enjoyed choosing the decor as well as working in the garden, with its thriving Mediterranean and exotic plants. We grew our first bananas this year!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose our house in Plaka for its breathtaking views over Souda Bay and location, just five minutes walk from the village centre. Plaka is an all year round village with all essential facilities on hand, including two outstanding tavernas, kafenions, mini market. The district of Apokoronas, at the foot of the White Mountains, is one of the greenest regions of Crete combining picturesque villages, stunning scenery and small beach resorts. Almerida, with it's lovely gently shelving sandy beach and beach side tavernas, is very close. The beautiful and atmospheric city of Chania, where modern, Venetian, Turkish and traditional architecture are blended together, is a 30 minute drive away.
