Halcyon is a beautiful restored secluded farmhouse in the unspoiled northern mountains of Zakynthos yet only 6 minutes from the sea. Set in a garden of fig, almond and olive trees, rosemary, lavender and white roses, the terraces and pool have magnificent views of Kefalonia and the Ionian Sea. The house is ideal for parents who want space and splendour, for 2 families or for friends sharing. Halcyon is perfect for family summer holidays and equally wonderful in Spring, Autumn and Winter. Surrounded by fields of wild flowers it's a walker's paradise. The only traffic you'll encounter are passing sheep and goats.

Notes on prices
Prices shown are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Ten day bookings are also available depending on flights. Out of season rates on request but please note that from November until the end of April there are no direct flights to the island.
Changeover day
Bookings normally run from either Thursday to Thursday or Sunday to Sunday. Arrival after 1pm and departure by 10am please.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | The main farmhouse has a huge airy bedroom with a four-poster and single bed. An interconnecting little cottage, sleeps 3 in single beds. There's also a single day bed in the living room and a single sofa bed. |
| Bathrooms: | Ensuite bathrooms, each with shower & wc. Outside poolhouse with shower & wc. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen has all mod cons including a dishwasher. There's even the original bread oven. The adjoining cottage has its own kitchen and dining area. |
| Utility Room: | Washing machine. |
| Living Rooms: | A large airy living room with doors opening onto a spacious terrace overlooking the garden and pool. The interconnecting cottage has its its own living area with doors to the terrace (if needs be 2 more people can sleep downstairs). |

Towels and linen provided. Pool maintenance 3 times weekly. Maid service can be arranged at an additional cost of approx 100 euros per week. |

Notes on accommodation
Air coolers and fans in the bedrooms.
Outside
The private pool is 10x4m, 1.5m at the shallow end and 3m at the deep end, (please note that it is not suitable for children who cannot swim without adult supervision). There's a large terrace with sun-loungers, table tennis and magnificent views to Kefalonia and the Ionian Sea. There are fig, olive and almond trees and the garden is planted with rosemary, lavender, myrtle, and white roses. Please help yourself to fresh figs and herbs from the garden.The farm gate leads directly to our adjoining 2 acre field with its ancient olive trees. Wonderful walks directly on the mountain.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is at the tiny port of Agios Nicholaos just 6 minutes away. There are various beaches and coves further along the coast including the famous Ship Wreck Bay, voted one of the top ten beaches in the world by Conde Naste Traveller.
Travel
Zakynthos airport (also known as Zante) is a 50 minute drive, as is the port.
Distances
The little port of Agios Nicholaos with its family run tavernas and sandy beach is a 6 minute drive from the house as is the Peligoni Club famous for its water sports. There's a delightful small cove a ten minute drive and a large sweep of bay with a pebbled beach about 12 mins away. Alikes with its sandy beach- ideal for young children, is 20 mins. The picturesque mountain village of Volimes is a 15 minute drive, and Zakynthos town, a 50 minute drive. The nearest taverna is just 5 mins away.
Further details
The peace and serenity of an idyllic mountain retreat + loads to see and do! There are Venetian monasteries to visit, the busy town of Zakynthos with its museums and shops, plus lots of day trips to various villages, beaches and coves. You can hire your own boat to potter about the coastline or take a boat trip from the nearby port to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Bay. You can even go and see the turtles at the other end of the island, take a day trip to Kefalonia or, simply relax by the pool. There are lots of family run tavernas to choose from and ample shops and mini markets.
