Spacious Villa with Sea Views
Set in a Quiet Hamlet close to Beaches
Sleeps 6/7 (3 Bedrooms)

Villa Anna is a stone built village house which originally housed the village olive press. It has been sensitively restored by its Irish owners and now offers spacious, comfortable accommodation in a home full of character. The stunning views of sea and sunsets can be enjoyed from both the extensive veranda on the first floor and the large rear walled garden. Set in a quiet hamlet, it is only minutes walk to Perithia, a traditional Greek village which boasts 2 excellent tavernas, a cafe and a post office. A short amble through olive groves brings you to St Spyridon beach; a pretty, gently shelving, sandy beach. Inland is mountainous and every vertiginous corner offers fantastic views of Albania and the N.E. coast. Pelekito is equidistant from the livelier resorts of Acharavi and Kassiopi (about 5-6 km). This area is very popular with walkers and naturalists. The renowned Lake Antinioti can be seen from the villa's veranda.

Guest comments
"5 star accommodation in an idyllic setting. We just loved the character and comfort of the house and the proximity to the lovely Greek village of Perithia. We could easily have spent all our time here ensconced in this magnificent rural setting but it was also ideal for touring the glorious N.coast." May 2007

Owner profile
About the owner
My husband and I live in Ireland but have 5 children scattered around the UK.
We fell in love with Greece as students in the seventies. We travelled extensively in the Greek Islands , often at great personal risk on the ferries (!) but always came back to our first love... Corfu.
Before visiting for the first time I had read Gerald Durrell's 'My family and Other Animals' and been captivated by the sunkissed paradise he described. The reality lived up to all my expectations.
It would be disingenuous to suggest that the idyll he painted is unchanged but in our little corner in the North-east you will daily see elements of Greek life that have remained the same for centuries.
We love it and hope you will too.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted to be part of the fabric of a' proper' Greek village.
We think our location is perfect; we are in a village, with all the drama that entails, but have a seaview and are minutes away from the beautiful ,safe sandy beach at Aghios Spiridon. For those who crave a bit more activity Acharavi and Kassiopi are short drives away and the glam 'Kensington-on -sea' is close enough for those special meals out in Agni.
Pelekito is a microcosm of Greek life, which is never dull. Drama is first nature to a Greek and there is no situation too trivial not to get energetically engaged about.
We love being part of all that but similarly it is good to know that the other ingredients of a great holiday, viz great beaches, good tavernas, interesting sites and beautiful scenery are nearby.
Unique benefits of the property
Our home was originally an olive press and a few of the old artefacts remain. We have tried to retain a balance between character and comfort. ( You can flush paper down the loos and all the beds have sprung mattresses and divan bases!). The local history is fascinating and some of our immediate neighbours lived through the ravages of the Civil War after WW2. James Chatto's book 'The Greek for Love' provides excellent background for some of the locality. Ours is the last house in the village and our front door opens on to a cul de sac only used by us and 2 neighbours. The rear of the property overlooks olive groves which extend to the coast, and offers stunning views of the sea and the islands of Othoni and Ericoussa. We sit on our balcony and watch spectacular sunsets. Heavenly!
