Take a dip in our 8m x 10m private swimming pool then bask in the sun on one of our large sun terraces. We offer a traditional self-catering villa holiday - perfect for families & couples. Our villas are well designed and furnished to a very high standard with a real 'home from home' feel. Although car hire is recommended to get the most out of this wonderful area of Western Crete, the village of Chorafakia and its amenities are within walking distance. The village has 2 mini-markets, 2 hairdressers and an internet cafe, garage, car rental as well as bus stops and a taxi rank. There are 3 good tavernas close by and 4 of the best beaches in Western Crete. The wonderful old city of Chania is a 15 minute drive away and boasts a Venetian harbour with a large selection of fish restaurants as well as some wonderful shops, restaurants and museums.

Villa Irini has a blue colour scheme and consists of an open plan kitchen/living area. The kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, full cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, juice machine, toaster and plenty of good quality glassware and crockery.
The following items are also in the kitchen/living area: Dining table and 4 chairs, settee, 2 easy chairs, a large coffee table, lamps, 20' colour TV, DVD player, CD player with radio, books and games.
Bedroom 1 has two single beds (one soft mattress and one hard mattress) with a fitted double wardrobe and drawers. Air conditioning unit, mosquito nets and reading lights above the bed. Patio doors lead to the front balcony.
Bedroom 2 has a kingsize bed with double wardrobe, air conditioning unit, mosquito net, wall lights, full length mirror and pictures. Patio doors lead to a side balcony with a small table and 2 chairs.
The bathroom has a full shower unit, wall mounted cupboard, toilet, wash basin and washing machine.

Notes on accommodation
The villas are fitted to a very high standard and have the following extras: A wall safe, hairdryer, iron and board and beach towels. Satellite TV now installed. Baby gates can be supplied and when fitted make it very difficult for small children to 'escape', cots and highchairs are also available. Perfect for either couples or family holidays. Our villas are an ideal base for walking holidays.

Accessibility
Our site is on one level and the villas are of a bungalow type construction. Suitable for people with mobility problems but pool access could be a problem although we do have a flight of concrete steps into the pool. There is a ramp from one of the villas to the path nearest to the car park.

Outside
The villas have a large covered terrace at the front with a table and four chairs overlooking the well stocked gardens and swimming pool. The pool measures 8m x 10m and has 3 sets of steps, two metal and one concrete there is a walled shallow end 1 metre deep and the main pool slopes from 1.1m to 1.75m. Sun beds, umberellas and small tables surround the pool. There are 2 large communal stone BBQs with covered pergolas, wooden furniture and cushions. The site is very peaceful and has a lovely view of the mountains which are covered in snow until mid May.

Coast/Beach
Akrotiri has some of the most stunning beaches in Western Crete within a 5 - 10 minute drive away. The beaches are of golden sand and usually very gently sloping into the sea. Sunbeds and some very good tavernas are located on all of the beaches.

Golf
An 18 hole golf course can be found in Hersonissos near Iraklio which 1 hour 35 minute drive from us.

Travel
The nearest airport is Chania (pronounced Hania) which is 10 minutes drive away. Heraklion is the island's main aiport and is 2 hours from us. To enjoy this area fully a car is recommended. There is a regular bus service to Chania the nearest bus stop is a 10 minute walk from us. New in 2012 - EasyJet starting Gatwick to Chania flights from March 25th.

Kounipediana town 10 minutes by car.
Chania city 15 - 20 minutes by car.
Monasteries close by, 10 - 20 minute drive.
Archaelogical sites from 40 minutes - 2 hours by car.
Water Park 25 minutes by car.
Athens - 45 minutes by plane - see Aegean & Olympic Airways

Further details
We provide our guests with a quick tour around the immediate area either on arrival or the following morning. We show them the closest restaurants, banks and shops and it helps them a great deal.
When guests are arriving at Chania aiport we can arrange to collect them and have their car delivered to the villas and we also meet guests arriving from Heraklion when they exit the National Road at Chania/Souda to guide them to our villas.

Our site is walled and gated making it a perfect place for children. We can supply a baby gate which is fitted to the front of entrance to the villa and providing the side door is closed makes it very difficult for a young child to 'escape'! The other doors leading from the bedrooms all exit onto closed balconies.

A deposit of 20% is required to secure a booking. The final balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. An invoice will be sent notifying the customer when the balance is due.

About the owner
Tom and Claire Mein. We have lived here in Horafakia, Crete for 6 years. Prior to this we owned pubs in South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Life here is peaceful and slow - we enjoy lazy months through the winter and a really hectic time through the summer. The villas and gardens and 2 little dogs, Milly & Poppy keep us pretty fit. We enjoy the wonderful views and fantastic local food and love to share a bit of it with our friends and guests.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Beautiful scenery - we are situated in a country lane just on the outskirts of our village. We have a spectacular view of the White Mountains which are covered in snow until mid-end of April. The beaches are wonderful, soft white or golden sands gently shelving into the baby blue waters. Great food, fantastic fresh vegetables. What more is there!

Unique benefits of the property
Our villas and site are lovely, every year we try to introduce something new both inside and out. For 2011 we have re-furbished our swimming pool - it has taken a few years for us to 'save up' for this job as the pool is very large and the tiling pretty expensive. It looks great and we are really pleased with the job. New blinds, cushions and some other soft furnishings are new this year too. We put a lot of effort into making our villas just a little bit special and we know that it is really appreciated by our customers and friends who re-visit year after year.
