Dorela is a delightfully quaint and cosy village house situated in the picturesque village of Lachania, a traditional farming community nestled in the foothills of South Rhodes. Sleeping up to 3 adults, it has 1 double bedroom, a main living/dining room with sofa bed, a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower. All rooms lead out onto a sunny, private, walled courtyard. Lachania village has 3 traditional tavernas and a village supermarket. Just 5 minutes by car will take you to some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches of Rhodes. Dorela is ideal for those looking for a relaxing holiday in a tranquil and rural setting to explore the local flora and wildlife but within easy driving distance to such landmark sites as the historic village of Lindos and the popular twin beaches of Prassonisi.

Changeover day
Arrival and departure days are flexible. 4 night minimum booking. A surcharge of 50€ to be paid for 10pm - 8am arrivals who wish to be escorted to the property. A map can be provided for the property location.

Notes on accommodation
A travel cot with bedding & high chair can be provided on request (free of charge).
Additional cleaning can be arranged at 50€ per time including sheet and towel changes.
Accessibility
Dorela is located in one of the narrow lanes which make up the village of Lachania, some of which are steep so would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. Parking is available close by.
Outside
Dorela has a walled, private, sunny courtyard with a traditional stone bench. There is a bbq and a garden table with chairs and parasol for outdoor dining. Access to all the rooms of the house are via the courtyard as there are no internal doors. This is a typical feature of traditional houses.
Coast/Beach
Dorela is in a peaceful position inside the village and is in walking distance to the tavernas and supermarket. A 5 minutes drive will take you to the rarely used beaches of South Rhodes. The main beach reaches from Lachania to Kiotari and is around 14km long. The nearest part of the beach providing sun-beds, tavernas and watersports is 8 minutes by car to the popular village of Gennadi.
Travel
Rhodes Airport is a 90 minute drive. Car hire is recommended. We can also provide a pick up and drop off service to the airport on request. There is a bus service from Lachania Village during the summer months which runs into Rhodes Town/Falariki and Lindos/Pefkos.
For those of you who would like to explore the countryside more we can provide his & her Mountain Bikes for a small fee per week.
Distances
Gennadi is the closest village to Lachania which has a number of bars, restaurants and traditional tavernas and a watersports centre. The popular resort of Pefkos is 20 minutes away, The historic village of Lindos is 25 minutes and Prassonisi with its twin beaches and world famous watersports centres is a 20 minute drive.
Further details
Lachania is an ideal place to watch the world go by and feel part of a traditional Greek village. It has 3 tavernas (one run by the village Priest!) and a small supermarket, The nearest Taverna is Platanos which is just down the slope from Dorela and next to the village church, serving a good selection of traditional greek food. Please note there are no cash machines or Bureau De Change in Lachania. The nearest are in the next village of Gennadi, which is only an 8 minute drive and also has a number of bars and restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy, gift shop and jewellers as well as a 24 hour medical centre.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of 25% is required on booking and balance due 6 weeks before arrival. A 100€ security deposit for damage or breakages must be given when you finalise payment, which will be returned to you upon your departure. Sheets, bath and hand towels are provided. Please bring your own towels for the beach.

Originally from London, we moved to Rhodes in March 2007 after falling in love with the Island on a one week holiday in June 2006. Rhodes just ticked all our boxes as the perfect place to live.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We've always had a soft spot for the pretty, traditional village of Lachania. You can almost imagine that time has stood still in it's sleepy streets. On one of the many trips to the village we stumbled upon this pretty little traditional house and knew we had to have it. Lachania is the ideal place for anyone looking for peace and tranquility, whether you want to take long walks along quiet, unspoilt beaches or enjoy traditional home cooking in one of the local tavernas after the thrills of wind or kite surfing at Prassonisi, Lachania is the ideal place to stay and nature lovers will not be disappointed by the flora and fauna of the local countryside.
