Villa Cyclamino is a luxurious modern open plan villa which has a tranquil and relaxed feel and is situated 900m from the tiny fishing village of Katelios - within walking distance to local tavernas, beach and amenities. The setting guarantees breathtaking views over the glistening waters of the Ionian sea towards the islands beyond . In the distance the famous Caretta beach where the loggerhead turtles lay their eggs can be seen. Surrounding the infinity pool is a spacious outside patio area with BBQ, sunloungers and parasols, there is also a covered outside eating area for midday alfresco dining. The villa is fully equipped to an extremely high standard with Satellite plasma TV, DVD, Ipod station, dishwasher, microwave. All bedrooms have private balconies with amazing views. Cyclamino will appeal to guests looking for a luxurious holiday with a 'get away' feel but still within easy access to the local amenities. Private parking is available for 2/3 cars.

Changeover day
Changeover days are normally Thursday or Sunday, but can be flexible in low season. The villa is ready from 4pm on day of arrival. Guests need to vacate by 10.00am on day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
Villa Cyclamino is nestled on the hillside just 900m above the village of Katelios. The villa has recently been refurbished (2011) to an extremely high standard offering luxury rattan outside lounge & dining furniture.The villa is fully equipped to a high standard with luxury touches that include Egyptian cotton linen and towels, bone china crockery, hand blown glasses, sleek cutlery, picnic blankets and a cool box to name but a few. the villa is accessed by a small tarmac country road of which the last 50 metres surface is concreted and steep allowing for access to Cyclamino and 2 other properties which makes it almost a traffic free zone. The villa is private but is not remote. Car hire is essential for your stay with many car hire companies available. Air-conditioning is included in the price of your stay.There is a safe for valuables. A complimentary welcome pack is provided on arrival. Further shopping requests can be catered for on request.
Accessibility
Please note: the villa is not considered suitable for wheelchair users. disabled and the infirm as there are a flight of steps leading up to the property. The villa is arranged over 2 floors with a marble staircase leading up to the second floor, caution should be taken at all times.
Outside
The entrance leading up to the villa is occupied by native shrubs scattered with fig, lemon and orange trees. The car parking area and steps leading up to the villa are lit at night by sensors. Naturally the outdoor living space is treated as part of the whole villa experience with much of your time being spent in this area relaxing. The infinity swimming pool is 10 x 5m. A built in BBQ is provided for guests use. Special emphasis has been spent on the outside space providing luxury rattan sun loungers with a rattan outside sofa and dining table with seating for 8 under the covered area to make the most of alfreso dining. Parasols are also provided for shade when needed (please note: Children staying at the villa should be supervised whilst in and around the pool area at all times. The pool is accessed by 3 wide steps (not a ladder) and is 0.7 - 1.9m deep. Inflatables are not permitted in the pool due to the infinity design. Diving in the pool is strictly forbidden).
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is 900m and within 10 mins walk or 2 mins by car, sun loungers and parasols are available for hire, beach tavernas are situated on the waters edge for lunchtime snacks and scrumptious evening meals. The famous Caretta beach is a five minute car journey with many more sandy coves and beaches close by ready to be discovered by either hiring a small motor boat for the day or jumping in the car to explore.

Travel
Katelios is situated 32km east of Argostoli airport, transfer time is 45 mins by car. Direct flights from UK to Kefalonia operate between May and October (flight time approx 3.5hrs) and are available through holiday charter companies on a flight only basis from Bristol, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Luton, Stanstead & Newcastle (New for 2012 Easyjet from Gatwick). Flights outside peak season go from UK via Athens on Olympic Airlines/Aegean Airways. ferries also operate to the island.

Katelios 0.9km, Skala 8km, Argostoli 32km, Poros 24km (Poros has a ferry operating to mainland Greece).
Further details
The main banks are situated in Argostoli. Pharmacies are located in the many villages and towns. 8km away is the pretty resort town of Skala with its pavement cafes and wide selection of restaurants, from traditional Greek Tavernas to Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurants. With 5km of gently shelved shore, pristine sandy beaches, children's play areas, a variety of water sports, scuba diving, plus taxi boats ready to take you to deserted beaches or neighbouring villages, there's plenty to attract all age groups. The quaint town of Fiskardo on the north of the island can be reached withing 2 hours with many beautiful places of interest to see along the way including the famous Myrtos beach, Assos, Agia Efimia and Sami. Some of the mountain roads have spectacular views and the mountain goats are often seen grazing along the steep cliffs, wild mountain horses roam the famous Mount Aenos which rises up through the middle of the island.

Reservations taken by phone or email. (a reservation can be held for 48 hours if required). A non-refundable deposit of 25% required at the time of booking to confirm the reservation. Balance to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. Reservations made within 10 weeks of departure must be paid in full at time of booking. St.Thomas - little, also white sand, no sunbeds and beautiful water, very cute tavernas.
Skala is great and playground in the shade if you have little kids.
Fiskardo - the road trip definitely worth doing. Very different vibe up north of the island - more tourists, wealthy with their super yachts.
Assos - reminded us of a Greek Portifino.
Best of all was hanging out at this lovely villa, swimming in our pool,lunches and swimming at our local beach, and now feeling very relaxed and brown.

About the owner
My name is Liz. I live in Cornwall and have always loved property, renovation and sea! My first trip to Kefalonia in June 2005 was the turning point in both my life and my childrens! Spending 3 days being driven around bumpy tracks in a four wheel drive, we came across the land at Katelios. The view and the location were stunning. I knew that this would be the place to build Villa Cyclamino. By October 2005 I had purchased the land. 6 months later the villa was ready and by May 2006 (just!) my first guests arrived. From 2006 - 2010 the villa has been let through a major tour operator, however, now that my children have nearly grown up I felt that it was time to take control of my life and make a success of the villa on my own two feet! I hope that you enjoy the villa as much as we do.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Katelios is a pretty fishing village with lovely restaurants and tavernas. Within 35 mins from the airport you can be sat overlooking the Ionian sea with the sound of birdsong and crickets all around. The location is peaceful, and yet within 10 minutes walk you can be at the sea front enjoying a glass of robola wine with olives and tzadziki. Crowds do not exist on Kefalonia, beaches are never crowded, and crime rate is very low. Night life is relaxed and low key. The villa is suitable for large families, or maybe just a group of friends wishing to `get away` from it all.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa has a very relaxed feel about it. It is large, light and airy, the views from both inside and out are breathtaking. If you are holidaying with children there is a separate family room that they can play safely whilst not spoiling the relaxed feel or cluttering up the living areas where adults can still enjoy. Wifi, plasma TV and Ipod stations are little extras that are there should guests require them. Although the above are not essential on a relaxing holiday, these facilities are there to enhance your stay. I understand as a self employed mum myself that if children are happy then so are we (and also mid day temps can get very hot)and keeping a work/life balance whilst running a business can be challenging, extra facilities such as wifi can keep keep guests happy and in touch.
