Set in a terraced olive grove overlooking the Aegean and surrounded by Pine Trees the self contained studio, which is below the main house, offers the peace and tranquillity of a rural location yet is within walking distance of the main harbour Patitiri and the Old Town of Chora. Several small coves are nearby, or you may prefer the scenic walk through pine forests to nearby Megalos Mourtias to swim and have lunch at one of its two tavernas.

Changeover day
Friday is the usual changeover day with departures by 11am and arrivals after 3pm prefered.

Accessibility
Car hire is advisable for anyone with walking difficulties as the drive is steep. The owners are happy to advise on the best local deals.
Outside
Outside the studio has a shaded terrace with table and chairs. Steps lead down to a separate terrace equipped with two wooden sunloungers and umbrella, a barbecue area with barbecue.
Coast/Beach
The town beach in Patitiri is a 10 minute walk away, and a number of small coves and beaches are close by. Megalos Mortias beach with its 2 tavernas is a pleasant 40 minute walk through the pine forest.

Travel
The nearest airport is Skiathos, from there is a 5 minute taxi ride to the port then a hydrofoil/ferry trip to Alonissos(approx 1.5hrs). Other routes are via Athens, Volos or Thessoloniki. The owners provide transport from Patitiri to the property on arrival and departure.

The main harbour of Patitiri, has several well stocked supermarkets 2 bakeries, 2 butchers a fishmonger, 2 vegetable shops, a bank, internet cafe, local medical centre and a dentist, plus of course local tavernas and restaurants where you can watch the world go by. The hilltop old town of Hora enjoys spectacular views over the island and toward Skopelos, it has several tavernas often with live local music. Guided walks during the cooler months, also to be found are yoga and massage, and a teacher of the Alexander Technique. The island also boasts a world renowned accademy for Homeopathy. Out at sea... boat trips, yacht and boat hire can all be booked through local agents in Patitiri. Diving can be foud at Steni Vala a 20 minute drive away and kayaking is also available on the island.

About the owner
Having first discovered Alonissos 20 years ago when Chris was asked to teach watercolour painting on the island we always knew that someday we would set down roots there. Our dream was realised in 2005, when with the help of our good friends there, we were lucky enough to buy such a magical spot. Miraculously the land purchase and house and studio build were completed within 12 months and we now spend May till October living painting and teaching in this idyllic setting. Chris has been a freelance artist for 30 years and we are lucky enough to spend our summers providing painting tuition holidays on Alonissos. As we wake each morning and watch the sunrise from our bedroom window and the young Eleanora Falcons learning to fly we have to pinch ourselves in case we are still dreaming.

Jane loves the scent of the pine trees surrounding the terraced olive grove and we both enjoy exploring the many walking trails that surround us. We also wrestle with each other for the binoculars, when we spot the dolphins playing near the rocks below.
