Built by an architect as his home, the traditional east-Cretan design of the house won an award. The 220mē of the house is spread over three tastefully furnished levels offering the guests numerous ways to experience a relaxed vacation. Whether you prefer to sunbathe, read a book in the shade or relax in the whirlpool while overlooking the sea, the green courtyards and balconies of Villa Gournia offers you all these possibilities. All the amenities of the towns of Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra are only a 20 minute drive away while the local and traditional taverns and shops of the village Pachia Ammos are only 3 km (5 min.) away. Beautiful sandy beaches can be found just 2 km from the house.

Chateau Gournia is situated in a unique and quiet location overlooking the Mirabello Gulf making the villa ideal as a retreat for groups practicing meditation or for artist. In case our guests are interested in learning how to cook easy cretan meals we could organize it. Prices on request.

The villa is run by an architect who is living in Ierapetra and who will be glad to help you with local knowledge and provide any assistance required.
There are 2 smaller traditionally renovated cottages on the south coast, which are close to each other and can be rent together and will thus offer you 4 bedrooms as well (see ref.114 and 449)

About the owner
We are a mixed Greek/German couple and live not far away from the properties we rent out. We speak Greek, German, English, a bit of French and Danish. We like that people come from abroad to visit our beautiful island and in case they want it, we show or even accompany them to places that we think are worth to be visited and not crowded. As one of us is born here, there will be always something special that you wouldn't be able to explore on your own easily. We have quite a lot of guests who spend their holidays here for many years.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We loved this beautiful and silent area of Mirabello Bay so much that once we built this house for ourselves. It is away from crowded places and situated directly on a rock at the sea-side. Now that the children have left and live on their own we moved into a smaller house and rent the first one out. What we hope to have left behind is a sort of personal touch in the villa. The concept of the villa is the traditional way of building a house in this area of the island. As an architect I feel as well like a preserver of tradition.
Unique benefits of the property
As the villa was already built a couple of years ago the surrounding has manifested as well. even with more people you will always find a silent corner around the house the courtyards or in the garden.
