Sample the REAL Greece! Our family villa is located in a small village called Asos that lies on the northern coast of the Peleponese (mainland Greece), approximately an hour’s drive from Athens. Corinth, the nearest sizeable town is 15 minute’s drive from the villa. Assos is made up of two parts – “Pano” (or upper) Assos and “Kato” (or lower) Assos. Pano Assos is largely a farming community. From here you can catch buses to Corinth, Athens and other places. There are also a string of tavernas, a number of shops and a supermarket. Pano Assos is dominated by the locals who pass away their time sipping ouzo, eating souvlaki and playing backgammon. Kato Assos where the villa is located, lies next to the sea. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk from the main road in Pano Assos to the villa. The small roads linking Pano Assos to Kato Assos are lined with graceful villas, vineyards and orchards producing apricots, oranges grapes and lemons.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation is ideally suited to families with children. A large secure garden surrounds the villa with lawn at rear. Seafront location with easy access to the sea immediately outside the villa. Both apartments have air conditioning & heating (for low season).
Linen is provided on a weekly basis, but NOT towels.
Outside
Each apartment has a separate patio area at front of villa with outdoor table & chairs. Shared garden at the back is laid to lawn with some trees for shade and large, shared barbeque.
Coast/Beach
Swimming could not be easier as the villa is directly next to the sea across a small, quiet road. The water is clean and there is easy access immediately outside the house. The sea bed is sandy and the depth of the water increases gradually, making it excellent swimming for children. There is also a small beach with a taverna about 200m up the road. All the beaches along this stretch of coastline are a mix of sand and pebbles.
Travel
Athens airport is an 75 minute drive from the villa. We would recommend car hire because it would facilitate visits to many of the nearby places of interest and generally make life easier – but it is not essential. We can also arrange airport transfers if you do not want to drive.
Buses to Corinth pass through Pano Assos every 15-20 minutes. From there you can catch buses to Athens, Nafpleon, Loutraki and other places of interest. Buses to Athens also pass through Pano Assos every hour.

Further details
Shopping for food in the area is very convenient. There several mini-markets selling all the essentials within a 10 minute walk of the villa. In Pano Asos there is a supermarket, a chemist, a patisserie, a traditional bakery, several kiosks, etc. where you can find virtually anything you would need. Souvenir shops may be found in Corinth, Ancient Corinth and Loutraki.
Eating out is also easy as there are about half a dozen tavernas within about 10 minutes walk of the villa. Meals are reasonably priced as international tourism has yet to diswcover this area. In the town of Vrahati, there are numerous restaurants and tavernas and a small number of bars which play both English and Greek music. If you are looking for a more lively night out dancing then we would suggest you go to Corinth or Loutraki.
Should you wish to spend a few days on some of the islands, Hydra, Poros and Spetses may be reached via Nafpleon. The Ionian Islands are a day’s travel away via the ports of Patras or Killini.
There are numerous places of interest nearby provided you are prepared to use local transport or hire a car. Nearby archaeological sites include Ancient Corinth and Acro Corinth. Slightly further away there is Mycenae, the Amphitheatre at Epidavrus, Nafpleon, (the first capital city of Greece) and Athens with all it’s museums, and sights (1 hour). Delphi is approximately 3 hour's drive and makes a good overnight trip.
The nearest bank (with cashpoint & exchange facilities is on the main road in Vrahati.
Next to the beach, there are some tennis courts (own rackets required), a basketball court and a mini-soccer pitch. There is also an excellent playground and a small café.
