Just a few minutes drive from Gouvia self-catering accommodation is the city of Corfu with its fascinating Old Town, a labyrinth of narrow, cobblestone streets some far too narrow for cars. There is an esplanade between the city and the citadel where you will find numerous restaurants and tavernas. You should also visit the Palaio Frourio, a Venetian fortress built on an artificial island and surrounded by fortifications. If you are interested in history then exploring the island while staying in a rental villa in Gouvia will prove really worthwhile. From Greek mythology, through the Venetians, the Turks, the Napoleonic Wars up to the present day there is plenty to discover. Equally, if you want to explore the other small islands close to a Gouvia holiday apartment then chartering a boat or taking a boat trip are easy.
Weather
While staying in a Gouvia self-catering holiday villa you can expect to enjoy a warm Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and mild winters and springs that are spectacular for the colourful flora and autumns that are dominated by the ripened grape in the vineyards.
