A short way up the east coast from holiday cottages in Gennadi is the historic village of Lindos. If you have an interest in Hellenistic and medieval architecture then the acropolis here would be an essential sight. There’s a Doric Temple here, dating to 300BC, as well as Hellenistic Stoa dating from about 100 years later. The Castle of the Knights of St John is also impressive and alone is worth the trip from self-catering holiday accommodation in Gennadi. Meanwhile for a taste of the traditional Rhodes you could head for Lindos’ neighbour, Lardos, about 15 minutes from a holiday villa in Gennadi. This lovely village features an old town square and a number of sublime restaurants.
