Our top floor duplex apartment in the MGM Village de Lessy development in Chinaillon is perfectly positioned. Fantastic views up and down the valley from the large south facing balcony and opposite to the slopes. The apartment itself is located in the very centre of the village with the main supermarket on the ground floor of the building. It is also within a very short walk of the ski slopes, as well as the local shops, restaurants and bars. Chinaillon is the main access point to the ski area of Le Grand Bornand in the Haute Savoie and also links by ski bus (stop outside the block) to La Clusaz (The Aravis ski area offers a total of 220km of pistes). This ski area was recently reviewed very favourably by the Metro newspaper and is often described as a hidden gem of the French Alps – suitable for both beginners/families and the more experienced skiers. The apartment is finished to a very high standard and the ski slopes are easily accessed opposite.

Changeover day is Saturday and guests must vacate the property by 10am. New arrivals will have access from 4pm. Preferred arrival time is between 4pm-7pm but if this is not possible then please give details when booking of timings and mobile numbers.

The kitchen includes an oven, cermaic hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, fondue set and has plenty of storage with its breakfast bar. Fully equipped for 8.
Washer/dryer located in main bathroom. Hoover, mops, cleaning products etc in hallway cupboard.
The living room is comfortably kitted out with a large corner sofa, armchair, coffee table, dining table and chairs. There is a flat screen TV, DVD & Wifi. There are French doors leading to the south facing balcony with views up and down the valley.
The mezzanine area with balcony overlooking the main lounge also has a flat screen TV and DVD players and ideal for a kids hangout. The sofabed can be used either to watch TV or as a double bed to sleep 8 in the apartment.
The apartment will have been professionally cleaned on your arrival and will be cleaned at the end of the weeks stay. Linen and towels can either be hired and beds made up for your arrival at an extra cost or you are welcome to bring your own.

Important notes on accommodation
It is possible to buy passes which give you access to the swimming pool, sauna, gym area and a 10% reduction off spa treatments. Please ask for prices if interested.
The apartment has 2 travel cots available for babies and a booster seat for toddlers. There are kids plates, cutlery and cups and a pram too. The apartment has very efficient electric central heating. There is also a secure ski locker for your use.

About the area
There are lifts within the building at all levels to the apartment and there are 2 bedrooms, a kitchen/living room and bathroom/wc which can all be accessed without using the stairs to the mezzanine and 3 bedroom with en-suite.
There is a large south facing balcony onto the ski slopes with amazing views up and down the valley. There is a table and 4 chairs for the balcony and 4 deck chairs to relax in a real suntrap.
In summer, Le Grand Bornand 8 mins drive has a large outdoor swimming area (3 different pools) with slide, a snack bar and a safe toddler area and paddling pool. There are a number of lakeside beaches on the shore of Lake Annecy 35 mins drive away with freshwater swimming, sunbathing and water sports available. The river in Le Grand Bornand has great paddling areas for children too.
A 9 hole course is available in the Vallee de Bouchet at the Grand Bornand Golf Club. Crazy golf is available in Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz, and there is a full 18 hole course at Annecy, which plays around the lake.
Our apartment is less than 200 paces from the nearest ski lifts and ski school, with a hire shop next to the Spar supermarket offering Village de Lessy residents discounted rates. There is skiing to suit all abilities, including some good off-piste skiing areas for the more advanced skiers. Families of all ages are well catered for and there is a large Snowpark for the teenagers. The 'Aravis' ski-pass covers 220km of pistes and includes ski-bus transfers to nearby La Clusaz, the bus stop is right outside our chalet block. If your particular love is Nordic Skiing, there are also 60km of varied and well-kept circuits.
Special Interest Holidays
There is an ice skating rink in Le Grand Bornand open during the winter season for kids if they are not already exhausted after a hard days skiing, and a year round rink in La Clusaz. Climbing is a serious sport in this area with many local climbing spots to explore. Chamonix, with the intimidating Mt Blanc, is only 70 minutes away. If climbing is too intimidating there are many mountain walks in the area from 2 hours to 5 or 6 days long staying in refuges with guides. Mountain biking and cycling are also popular in this area with the Tour de France frequently passing through the village (The Tour passed though the centre Chinaillon, overlooked by the balcony (!), and Le Grand Bornand in 2007 and ). Le Grand Bornand is also a centre of excellence for paragliding and you are more than welcome to chuck yourself off the top of Mount Lachat (at your own risk of course) or simply lie back, enjoy the sunshine by the pool or wherever and watch the paragliders swoop overhead.
How to get there
Geneva Airport is less than an hour away by car and you have a huge choice of flights from many UK airports. Buses run regularly from Annecy too. Car hire is cheaply available and the route is straightforward. To drive from the UK to Calais is just over 500 miles (approx 12 hours). Transfers from the airport can be arranged when booking if you prefer not to bring a car. Taxi firms are also able to pick up and collect and are more flexible but are rather more pricey. Prices on request.
Grand Bornand 8 mins. Annecy 35 mins. Geneva 55 mins. Chamonix/ Mt Blanc 70 mins.
The main supermarket, Spar is in the basement of the building. Chinaillon has an abundance of shops and restaurants to suit everyone (La Bournerie is a wonderful traditional restaurant on the slopes which is fun for a fondue night and has steps up and down or you can slide down on your bottom if you prefer!). Other favourites include Le Jalouvre and L’Entracte. There are markets on Sunday morning in Chinaillon and on Wednesday morning in Le Grand Bornand. The Aravis mountain range is the home of the delicious Reblochon cheese, a key ingredient in the local speciality, Tartiflette. The regional capital, Annecy with its stunning lake is just beautiful and worth a visit if you don’t fancy skiing for a day or if you are visiting in the summer.
Bookings are confirmed when a booking form is returned with a 25% reservation fee paid. There is also a 350 euro damages deposit to be paid. The balance will be due 8 weeks prior to the holiday. Linen is not included but can be hired at an additional cost per person and can be booked through David along with a service to deliver a food shop to the apartment before arrival should you require it. Please contact David for costs. You are welcome to bring your own linen should you prefer.

Married with a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter, Andy and I are the proud owners of our gorgeous apartment in Chinaillon. It is kitted out well for kids and the location is great for families, being a few steps from the slopes and opposite a creche in the centre of the village.

Why this location?
The Aravis mountain area is just stunning both in the winter and summer. Ski slopes just on your doorstep in the winter and restaurants, shops and bars a stones throw away. Beautiful and peaceful in the summer with amazing walks and plenty to do. We were planning a family and it is the perfect place to bring your kids to enjoy the alps in a traditional way.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
As our apartment is on the top floor of our chalet it has amazing views from the south facing balcony. It is in the centre of the village, above the only supermarket. The ski slopes are accessed by a lift across the road and as a new build MGM property it is beautifully finished. The apartment is kitted out with very comfortable king sized beds or single beds from Cocktail Scandinavia and the living/dining area has comfy sofas and arm chairs. Wifi is there for those who wish and a home telephone, TV and DVD.
