We had a lovely holiday in your wonderful cottage! Lovely, peaceful village too - everyone so friendly.
The cottage is really lovely and so well equipped - the best we have stayed in I think.
We thought that St Fraimbault was a really special place. It was a holiday that will stay in our memory for a long time.
About the Owner
I am married with two children and for the last 12 years have been spending all the school holidays at our family house near Gorron, Western Loire. During that time we got to know the beautiful village of St Fraimbault really well and enjoyed spending time walking round the lake and looking at the amazing flower displays.
Year property purchased: 2008
Why this location?
As an Interior Designer, with a passion for renovation, I jumped at the chance of buying two adjoining cottages in my favourite village three years ago. They were both very rundown, with one of them needing completely gutting. I tackled the renovation using a team of french artisans, supervised by a trusted friend who lives locally and am delighted with the result! This is a lovely part of France, with lots to do and good access to the coast and other fascinating areas. You will be surprised at how quiet it is, even in August, no queues here! It is ideal for a two location holiday as it en route to the South of France. The village is easily accessible from the ferry ports of St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The village location of the cottage is ideal for anyone not wanting to have to drive everywhere. If you want to practise your french, the locals are always ready for a chat! For a taste of home there is an 'Irish' bar with a french slant, just up the road, serving Guinness. For more of a french experience there is another bar and restaurant a few minutes walk away. The village is well served by a small supermarket and a boulangerie where you can buy your fresh croissants and bread each morning. Oh yes - next door we have a small calvados distillery - just ask for a tasting! For an early evening aperitif, there is an open air bar on the lake during the Summer season (also serving excellent crepes). What about the kids? - well the pedalos on the lake keep them amused!
