'We really enjoyed staying here. The house and grounds were well equipped and there was plenty to keep our family occupied both around house, garden and in the local area. We would certainly consider returning in the future!'
What a great house, what a great week! - we stopped off in northern France on the way home but everyone was talking about the house in Perigourd. We had looked at the pictures on the website but the house has character that pictures can't convey. We found it large, comfortable and cool in the day. Sitting in the garden (the green gauges were just becoming ripe and delicious - figs will be a few weeks yet) was great.
Just to say thanks very much- yes we had a fantastic holiday and liked the house which we thought was very unusual. The village was also very quiet and peaceful and we found the cycling (we are into road biking) excellent.
We had an absolutely lovely time in Pierrefiche. We are missing the warm sunshine already!

There are many local chateaux and the countryside is beautiful. The house is on the route to Santiago de Compostella and pilgrims walk past it . There are cockle shells set into the pavements of the local town of Thiviers to show this. It is the centre of gastromomy for France and there are good restaurants and farmers markets. What we love most about the house are the stunning rural views and the original features such as stone walls, oak beams, walled garden. We loved the space inside the house and the fact that it is cool in the summer heat. Our favourite place is the loggia.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The house has been sympathetically modernised without compromising the character. It was originally a presbytery and has a statue of Saint Joseph set into the apex of the house. This makes it very special We give great attention to the exterior with lots of terraces and excellent quality garden furniture. There is sun or shade as you choose. We provide a library of books and DVD's as this is how we like to relax on holiday. There is also table football, table tennis and English TV as we have 4 children to amuse.
