Property description
The Riverside Barn is a stone built barn that was constructed in 1912 and converted in 1997. There are 2 bedrooms that sleep 4 people. Mezzanine will sleep a further person on a divan bed. The main living area is huge with an oak beamed ceiling. Outside there is an enclosed garden for sun-bathing leading to a maple tree shaded deck for drinks or dinner overlooking the river Dronne. A path leads to the lawned bank of the river where you can relax and refresh in the cool water. Kayaks and bikes can be hired from the barn. The whole area is wonderful for kayaking, walks, biking or trips to the local towns. The barn is within a 10 minute walk of the local village and 15 minutes from Riberac and 20 minutes from the medieval town of Perigeaux the capital of the Perigord.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday, with arrivals from 4pm. The property is to be vacated by 10 am.

Bedroom 1 with double bed.

Bathroom with bath/shower over, wash basin and wc.
Kitchen:
A large fully fitted kitchen with table and 4 chairs. Equipment includes 4 ring gas hob, oven and grill, microwave, fridge, coffee pot, kettle, crockery, glassware and cutlery.
Utility Room:
The utility room doubles as a pantry and laundry room with iron/board and washing machine.
Living Rooms:
There is an open plan lounge dining area. The lounge area has large sofas, armchair and huge wood burning fire. The large dining table and benches will seat 6 easily.
Other:
The house in on 3 levels with 3 large French windows leading from the garden to a gallery at ground level, some steps up to the main lounge dining area and up the loft stairs to the bedrooms and windows from the bedrooms overlooking the garden.

Bed linen is included and towels for the bathroom. No towels are provided for the beach.

About the area
Outside
Access to the barn is through a side entrance with a gravelled area under a maple tree for lunch and dinner alfresco. The large back garden leads down to a deck which overlooks the river. There are loungers and chairs for sunbathing, a barbecue and an all-in-one table with bench seats on the deck for eating out or drinks.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic beaches and dunes of Archachon, south of Bordeaux are approx. 1hr 54 mins drive, and La Rochelle to the north-west approx. 2hrs.
130 kilometres (80 miles) from the Dune du Pilat on the south west coast of France. The sand dune is over 100 metres high and 500 metres wide and three kilometres long which makes it the largest sand dune in Europe.
Golf
Perigueux: 18 hole (23 mins drive).
Angouleme: 18 hole (60 mins drive).
Chateau Vigier: 18 hole (60 mins drive).
Bordeaux: 4 or 5 courses (90 mins drive) see local guides.
Longeveau: 9 hole (20 mins drive).
How to get there
By air to: Bergerac (1 hr 4mins), Bordeaux (1hr 54mins), Limoges or Poitiers (1hr 45 mins). Ryanair, BA, BMI Baby or Easyjet.
By train from: Waterloo to Angouleme.
Car hire is available at all the above destinations. The use of a car is essential.
By car: Via the Channel Tunnel, Speed Ferries to Boulougne-sur-Mer, and the main Channel Ferry ports along the south coast to a variety of destinations in France. The barn is approximately 7 hours drive from Calais.
Distances
Lisle village with 2 cafe/bars, 2 bakers, butchers, Spar supermarket, pharmacy, hardware store, florist and restaurant - 3 minutes. Ribérac town has numerous restaurants and cafes, supermarkets, bakeries, banks, chemists, hospital, doctors, petrol stations and repair garages, hairdressers etc - 15 minutes.
Périgueux, capital of the Perigord and beautiful medieval town with large shopping centre and all modern amenities.
Further Details
We are situated between the two market towns of Ribérac (Friday - 9km) and Brantôme (Monday - 11km) both of which are full of atmosphere and have large supermarkets. Other local towns and villages offer a wide range of facilities to include, canoeing, horse riding, walking.
Tourist Offices are situated in the town squares of both Ribérac and Brantôme where literature is available on all activities, possible places to visit and local events.
Booking notes
To secure your booking please contact the owners. You will need to send a rental deposit of 10% of the total rental amount with your booking. The balance of the rental due is to be paid 8 weeks prior to travel together with a damage deposit of 100 pounds, which is refundable.
