To make a reservation 25% of the full amount is required as a deposit, which is non-refundable. The balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the rental period. A £200/200 euro security deposit is required at the same time and is fully refundable within 2 weeks of the end of your stay providing there is no damage and the gite is left clean and tidy as you found it when you arrived. In the unfortunate event of cancellation refunds will only be made if the gite can be re let.

"A Peaceful Gem"
This was our first visit to South West France and we chose Gite Alexandre mainly due its proximity to Pau as we were attending an equestrian event there. The description on the Owners Direct website fitted our requirements for quiet, well equipped accommodation where we would be able to do our own thing without the restrictions of a hotel. Further useful info from the owners and their own website backed this up. The Gite is perhaps a kilometre or so outside the small village of Simacourbe down a narrow road in a very quiet location. A car or motorbike is essential. When we arrived we were blown away by the Gite, which far exceeded our expectations and is not done justice by the photo's etc. you see on the websites. There's a very spacious and superbly equipped kitchen/diner and an adjacent large lounge with TV, DVD, VCR etc. The kitchen has everything you need with a full sized cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine etc. and lots of crockery, cutlery and cookware. In addition to a downstairs loo the two bedrooms on the first floor each have high quality en-suite facilities. Due to the style of the building, upstairs some beams are bit low for those of above average height. Outside there is a patio area with barbecue, loungers and a small table and chairs plus a raised lawn with a big gazebo housing an additional alfresco dining table. These are for the sole use of those in the Gite. Further, there is a swimming pool and another barbecue that is available for use by the Gite occupants and shared with the owners. The whole premises is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Bridget and Keith, the owners, are very friendly and welcoming. They live on site in a large adjacent farm house and are regularly on hand for advice etc. They've lived in France for several years so know the ropes and can recommend the best places to visit, where to eat and where to shop. A decent range of shops for everyday needs are about 10 minutes away by car in Lembeye. Here are also a few eating places and a petrol station. Pau is about 30 minutes away and access to the very scenic Pyrenees is easy. Those wishing to venture further can get to the coast in about 1.5 hours. Lourdes is about 45 minutes away. This accommodation is thoroughly recommended to a wide variety of holidaymakers and other travellers. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

This is one of the best Gites we have ever stayed in . The gite was extremely well appointed .The attention to detail meant that we had everything we could possibly need and more. The pool was fabulous - peaceful with beautiful views and there was ample outside seating/eating areas. Bidget and Keith were extremely friendly and helpful ensuring our stay was trouble free. Highly recommended

"Great Gite, lovely hosts "
I visited with my wife and 2 sons who'd recently finished at University. We all thought the gite was great. The property was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed, in a very peaceful rural location. Two lovely large bedrooms both with en suite and again with everything you could need. We loved the private lawn, the use of the very good sized pool, and the stunning mountain views. We visited in early May and were a bit unlucky with the weather but still found plenty to do and interesting places to visit. The owners Bridget and Keith were extremely helpful and friendly, with great local knowledge. We arrived rather late and were extremely grateful for the thoughtful welcome pack. I would have no hesitation in recommending this gite.

We have many lovely guest comments in our book, but feel the best are the very good friends we have made and the repeat bookings. We also have a family who have now bought their own house nearby, hopefully this will persuade you enough to come and see for yourselves.
About the Owner
We have been in France since 2002 & have renovated Gite Alexandre ourselves which took us 3years. As Keith is a perfectionist. As we used to holiday in France & rented many Gites when we renovated ours we remembered all what we wanted when we stayed in a Gite & very rarely had. So we have 2 bedrooms both with en-suite & downstairs loo, a English Kitchen & for when it's a wet day English & French TV. We have a lot of repeat bookings as we try to give all our guest the experience of France & why we live here. We are 20 mins from the lovely city of Pau with it's beautiful chateau & grounds. We have a motorbike so we are interested in biking as the roads & mountains in this area are just lovely. Of course they are also good if you are on a push bike or in a car. So we look forward to seeing you
Year property purchased: 2002
Why this location?
As soon as we stepped out of the car we knew we were going to buy it. The beautiful view of the Pyrenees the lovely blue sky. We had come to the area in 2000 for 6months & knew it was right for us all we had to do was find the correct property. We are in a small village called Simacourbe 20mins north of Pau so it is very relaxing & quite but if you want a bit more life then you can go to many of the local village Fetes or a 20 mins drive into Pau for the Boulevard to Pyrenees where you can enjoy many bars & have a lovely view at the same time. We have got bars & restaurants nearer to us in Lalongue Lembeye & other villages where you can sample the local food of this area. We are also close to many vineyards where you are able to taste the local wines which are superb.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Everyone who has stayed has said that our photo's do not do the Gite justice & it is of a very high standard. We also have a lot of repeat bookings which have now become very good friends & 1 family have even bought a house close buy as they loved the area so much. We have a beautiful view of the Pyrenees from the garden & a 12x6 salt pool with a pool house which has a outside kitchen & BBQ. If you fly we are 20mins from Pau airport, if you drive then there are many French ports to choose from, also Santander & Bilbao in spain. When you arrive you will have a welcome pack. We are 20min from Pau 35min from Lourdes, 1hr from the Pyrenees National park, 1hr 30 from Biarritz & 3hrs 30 to the Med so as you can see this area has so much to offer, you can relax by the pool or explore.
