The house and cottage are enclosed with gardens and pool to the rear (normally open May-Sept) and ample off-road parking to the front. La Chapelle is ideally situated between the market towns of Sauze Vaussais and Chef Boutonne, in a peaceful rural hamlet, truly away from it all, superb for walking and cycling with fields of sunflowers and a wide variety of wildlife. Locally there are some excellent inexpensive restaurants with local specialities. The area has many rivers, lakes, chateaux and Roman churches. The larger towns of Poitiers, Niort and Angouleme, all good for shopping and days out, are all around 40 minutes away. The picturesque Marais Poiteven, the Green Venice of France, with its network of canals ideal for boating and sightseeing is also within easy distance. Over on the coast, around an hours drive away, are the famous Atlantic resorts of La Rochelle, Isle de Re, Royan and the Isle d'Oleran, famed as the prettiest and most traditional resorts with sandy beaches.

Notes on prices
All prices are per property per week in UK Pounds.
Discounts for long winter lets are available on application. Flexible start/finish dates. Fuel for the woodburners can be provided at cost.
Changeover day
Saturday changeover.
We aim to have the properties available for occupancy after 4pm but guests are welcome to arrive earlier and make use of the outdoor facilities! Guests are asked to vacate the properties by 10am leaving the properties clean and tidy.
Notes on accommodation
The properties are ideal for families with children of all ages, travel cots and stairgates for our younger guests are available on request. Bedlinen and bathroom towels are provided but not pool towels. Fuel for the woodburners can be provided at cost.
Outside
Both properties have their own private outdoor dining area with BBQs, tables and chairs and gazebos, these lead on to the shared gardens and pool area. The heated pool measures 12m x 6m, is fenced and has an alarm to conform to EU French legislation, there is also a large sun terrace around the pool amply supplied with sunbeds. The large, well established garden is surrounded by fields and woodland, there are swings, a slide, badminton net and a variety of outdoor games. The well-equipped games barn has a table-tennis table, table-football and electronic darts. There are a variety of bicycles available to guests as well.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast with its famous resorts of La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Royan etc is just over an hours drive away.
Travel
Our nearest airport is Poitiers, approximately a 40 minute drive, but La Rochelle, Limoges, Tours and Bordeaux are all within commutable distance. Calais is about a 6 hour drive, Cherbourg round about 5 hours. A car is essential.
We regularly use the Dover-Bolougne crossing with Speedferries, again about a 6 hour drive.
Distances
Sauze-Vaussais and Chef-Boutonne are both about 8kms away with their supermarkets, banks and restaurants.
Poitiers, Niort and Angouleme are about 50kms. Cognac is about 80kms - all distances are very approximate!
Further details
We can arrange fishing at a private lake and horse riding.
Our nearest Boulangerie is only 3kms, a lovely cycle ride for your breakfast croissants!
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is required when booking, with the balance becoming due 8 weeks before your holiday. A refundable breakage deposit of £100 is required.
