A fully redecorated cottage situated in the beautiful village of Thouarsais Bouildroux. This spacious 3-bedroomed property is situated in an ideal location for a peaceful family holiday in the Vendee. The Cottage is Set in private grounds and we have an above ground pool with removable ladder for safety. We are within walking distance from the village bar, and a 5km drive from Bazoges-En-Pareds that boasts a wonderful restaurant called La Donjon that's well worth a visit. (advanced booking suggested as they are very popular) Fontenay-Le-Comte a 20km drive, has a Saturday Morning Market, and 2 large Supermarkets, it also has an inside and outdoor swimming pool with water slides to enjoy. We are also within easy reach of La Rochelle with it's Airport, Aquarium, large selection of shops and restaurants, and a Marina. The Aquarium here is well worth a visit something that everyone will enjoy.

No smoking inside property, Electric storage heaters in all rooms, enclosed garden, Baby gate, cot and highchair available on request. No pets allowed.
Accessibility
All amenities for the cottage are on the ground floor, and although the cottage is not designed for people with mobility problems, there are only 2 small steps from the kitchen to the living room to overcome. The dining room can be used as a bedroom, to accommodate if required.
Outside
The enclosed private garden has a patio with table and chairs, a charcoal BBQ, and above ground private pool, with a removable ladder for safety.(Available in the months of June, July, August. If use of the pool is required outside of these months a surcharge will apply). We have lots to keep you busy out in the garden with our selection of garden and pool games theses include water volleyball a jet ski, swingball and bowling for all the family to enjoy. The garden also features various fruit trees, along with off road parking available for up to 3 vehicles. The perfect place to enjoy a quiet relaxing family day.
Coast/Beach
Approximately 1 hour's drive away are the beautiful sandy beaches of the Vendee coast. You will find these beaches in the villages of La Tranche-sur-Mer, La Faute-Sur-Mer and L'Aiguillon-Sur-Mer.
Travel
Travelling via ferry, to the Ports of St Malo, Caen, Cherbourg, Roscoff and Le Havre you can expect a drive of between 3 to 5 hours. If preferred you can fly into the airports of La Rochelle, Poitiers or Nantes which are all around 1 hour's drive away, use of a car and a satellite navigation system is recommended.

Thouarsais Bouildroux walking distance to village bar. La Caillere (3km) small village with bank, post office, baker, butcher, pharmacy, Spar shop, bar and restaurant. Bazoges-En-Pareds (5km) bar, bakers, and restaurant. Vouvant (8km) picturesque medieval village with bars and restaurants. La Chataigneraie (10km) large town with two supermarkets and all amenities. Fontenay-le-Comte (20km) larger town with large supermarket and various shopping outlets, also with a Saturday morning market.
Further details
The South Vendee offers beautiful beaches, and picturesque villages and farmland. The region has hundreds of kilometres of well sign posted paths for horse riding, walking and cycling. Mervent Forest is the ideal place to sample some of these activities, with numerous cycling and walking paths. There are lots of rivers and lakes offering a great days fishing. Cezais and Thouarsais plan de eau are 2 lakes within a 5-10 min drive from the cottage both offering a wonderful day out, picnic areas are available at both lakes, the prices to fish are 5 & 6 euros per day, this allows you to use 2 lines per person and catch up to 8 fish. If you enjoy shopping then a visit to Nantes or La Rochelle will be a pleasure. A little closer to home is La Roche-Sur -Yon which boasts an indoor shopping centre called Les Flanneries, along with a huge Carrefour supermarket. There are many places to visit for a day out Puy de Fou is one of France’s most visited attractions where you can see the re-enactment of medieval times, chariot races, and birds of prey. Futuroscope is also an excellent unique theme park, and the Aquarium at La Rochelle is a fantastic day out for all the family. The coast has many towns and villages worth a visit, such as Les Sables - D'Olonne and the islands of Nourmoutier and Il de Re. There are many Villages that offer local wine and traditional Vendeen cuisine. Vouvant is just one of these Villages and has been awarded for being one of the most picturesque villages in France, Local markets held weekly in Fontany-Le-Comte display local produce and crafts for sale.

A beautiful house in a quiet friendly village. Great weather plenty of sun. Fontany-Le-Comte well worth a visit, also pleasant walks/cycling in Mervent Forest to escape to some shade! Boys enjoyed games consoles and DVDs etc. Thanks to Linda for your help.
A lovely week, the pool was a real hit with our 6, 3, and 3 year olds! Visited Mervent Forest and did some cycling on the excellent cycle paths. Otherwise did very little (a perfect week!). Lovely house, good location, well looked after and maintained.
A great location for a restful holiday. First week spent reading books and playing in the pool. Fish and Chips on Friday night a must. Second week out and about Vouvent and La Rochelle really good. Linda is excellent at ensuring everything runs smoothly.
