The apartments are totally self contained and located in the main chalet, the slopes are easily accessible from the chalet. Valmeinier centre and its facilities can be reached in 2 mins via the free shuttle bus or 15 mins by foot. The Inversins quad chair and piste to the 6 man Grandes Drozes chair are close by and it's possible to ski back very close to the chalet at the end of the day. The living and dining areas in both apartments are comfortable and furnished with traditional alpine furniture in keeping with both the chalet and surrounding area. The apartments benefit from spectacular views across the valley and are situated at 1700m in altitude. There are 2 shower rooms and a separate toilet in apartment 1 and a bathroom and toilet in apartment 2. The living and dining area in both apartments is on ground level benefiting from underfloor heating, all other rooms having central heating.

Notes on accommodation
The main resort of Valmeinier is within walking distance with numerous bars and restaurants available. The ESF ski school is situated in the resort and our son is a resident instructor and ex GB ski team member. The lift pass office is also in the main resort and for those wishing to hire ski equipment we have negotiated a 20% discount with Top Ski when you book on line and in advance. Valmeinier has a 2 screen cinema and bowling lanes. The linked resort of Valloire is 10 minutes away by car if you would like a change of scenery during your holiday. It offers a wide choice of traditional restaurants. Our chalet and apartments are non smoking environments.
Accessibility
Both apartments are located on ground and 1st floors and private parking is available directly outside the apartments.
Outside
The chalet is located in a beautiful area with spectacular mountain views in all directions. A local farm is within 5 minutes walk of the chalet and a children's play area is situated close to the Inversins chairlift.
Skiing
The Valmeinier/Valloire ski area has 150km of pistes to offer with resorts being linked and easily accessible from the apartment. Heavy investment in new chairlifts over the past few years has made this even quicker than before. The skiing is suited to all with lots of good cruising runs along with more challenging and off piste opportunities for those that seek it. Seventy percent of the ski area is located above 2000 meters and all lower slopes are covered by snow cannons just in case.
Walk 150 metres up the road and you can ski to the Inversins chair lift and piste allowing you easy access to Valmeinier or Valloire via high speed 4 and 6 seater chairs. The pistes are very well maintained in the area and lift queues are rarely a problem here as the resort is small in comparison to the size of the ski area (see www.valmeinier.com for an interactive piste map).
Travel
2 hours drive from Geneva, Lyon or Turin or approx 9 hours drive from Calais. Numerous flights are available from the UK on Easyjet, Ryanair, BA or Swiss. Accessible also via Eurostar/TGV from the UK to Lyon in just over 5 and a half hours.
Distances
Valmeinier is the main resort and is accessible in 15 mins by foot, 2 mins by shuttle bus or car. All usual facilities are available in the resort, cash points, Ice rink, cinema etc... Valloire is reachable in 10 mins via car. Val Thorens is reachable in 30 mins by car via the Orelle gondola (3 Valleys express).

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We spent 2 years searching across the French Alpes to find a location that provided the perfect mix of great skiing and a great location.
We came across Valmeinier and were very surprised by the size and variety offered by the ski area. We were also very pleased to find none of the usual lift queue madness found in so many of the popular resorts these days.
The people here are very friendly and they really want you to come back time and time again rather than the usual you're just a tourist approach which can lead to such an impersonal holiday.
Karen and I have now both left our work in the UK and moved here full time.

We have a unique location in the resort just under Valmeinier 1800 having easy access to the pistes. We are in a quiet location that ensures you have a relaxing break as well as enjoy the wonderful ski area and main resort.
As a result of our location we have many families return to us the next year as the children can play outside in wonderful surroundings safely.
