10-20 (9 Bedrooms) perfect for a family reunion!

Arc en Ciel is a large property and can accommodate 10-20. In an ancient market town, it is the perfect place to explore this part of France. Now - plenty of outdoor furniture, bedding, cot and cushions! I know you will enjoy your stay! A little about the location of the house - we are in one of the nicest streets, with beautiful detached houses running down to the river - so although it is very quiet and away from the bustle of the town centre it is just a few minutes to all the shops and riverside restaurants -so perfect if you don't have a car or if you don't want to drink and drive! On the other hand the pool, garden and barbecue area is surrounded by a high wall, once you're home it really feels like you are in your own paradise. Over the years we have really put so much love into the garden.

Notes on accommodation
This large house is both child and elderly friendly, as a family home rather than a holiday let it is fully furnished and decorated, because it is so large in the summer the metre thick walls keep it lovely and cool - well lit with large windows. Arc en Ciel is the perfect place for a large family or a group of families to holiday. As the house is spread over such a large area it is easy for small groups to gather in different places without disturbing others- but importantly it is possible to sit every one inside or out for meals- you will love it here I am sure. My home is exactly how i want it -my entire family holidayed there just recently and hardly ever left the place- I do sometime get concerns from people that something on first sight is not as they expected but 99% of my guests just love it! I do reinvest every year in new things -and this time it was new sofas.Over the years your recommendations have really helped me improve the experience of staying at Arc en Ciel.
Accessibility
There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and the main living dinning area is on that level too, the drive is gravel though so wheelchairs need a good push! We have had many generations of the same family staying with us and they do keep coming back - although the house can get quite cold out of the summer season as it is so large! So i would not recommend bringing granny and grandpa at Christmas!
Outside
The private pool and garden are lovingly looked after by Roger, the property key holder, who lives in the village. He makes sure the pool is exactly right and will wait to welcome you on your arrival. The pool is large and heated by the sun and the garden is overlooked with giant palm trees and has a very fruitful fig tree. Important for some guests is the convenience of off street parking with space for a least 3 cars behind a lockable gate so you can just jump in and head of to the beach. My favorite thing to do is to head up to the mountains or go explore the Cathar country. Last year i was in France with my family we even went to Mont Segur the old Cathar stronghold, the hike was incredible and the countryside stunning. There is a few sun loungers for those you need their daily dose and plenty of noodles for the kids to really enjoy the pool. We can sit everybody both inside or out for meals and this is a real bonus and the best part of any holiday.
Coast/Beach
The house is a couple of kms from beach, nice to cycle there along the river side. I prefer St Vincent beach which is between Cap Agde and Grau Agde, water sports and fishing. The night clubs on the Isle de Loisier are world famous and only a short drive near Cap Agde on the beach. We have had many a memorable night there and at the fun park, although the kids favorite is Aqualand -which we think is one of the best water parks in the world!
Golf
Good course at Vias
Special interest holidays
People have rented my home for cooking and painting classes. For many years we had a large group of students who did Judo -they brought their own mats, which they could spread out in the main sitting room -you really need to stand in there to see how big it really is - they loved it as they could all fit in there-and came back every year for ages.
The main room is therefore extremely versatile -how it is decorated now with big new sofas it feels cool and calming- but this can be rearranged for a workshop or yoga class to be conducted in a holiday/residential atmosphere.
Travel
Agde is great for Ryanair passengers, nearby train from both Montpellier and Carcasonne and house is walking distance from Agde railway station. If you don't know this there is now a flight direct to Agde/Beziers. This can be well priced to. The airport is about 10 minutes for the house so this makes traveling to Arc on Ciel real easy and amazingly affordable.
Distances
There is so much to do and see, but this is a place for beach and culture, for day trips into the hills and mountains, for picnics and vinyards, for exploring the Cathar country and the medieval towns. I could go on. One of my favorite places to visit is call Pezenas. A local town, full of artists and wonderful restaurants. A little larger than Agde and a great place to wander and visit all the authentic antique shops.
Further details
Last count there are 130 authentic restaurants in Agde, walking distance to supermarket, bakery and newspapers. We went to Pezenas recently, having never been there before and it was stunning with loads of antique shops, a real gem. Agde has evolved since i first bought this house 20 years ago and has got better and better facilities. There is a huge Hyper U -with everything for when you first arrive and want to stock up with the basics. Buy your wine in the local Cave, you will buy a plastic barrel and fill up from what looks like a petrol pump. The wine is great and cheap. I guarantee you will be back for a fill up at least once! The reason why i love this part of France so much is that you get an authentic S of F experience but without the 10 euro drinks and euro gangsters, you can still find a quiet beach and an authentic French restaurant. The seafood is awesome. The local towns are all ancient and stunning and you can take a road trip to a huge variety of different attractions and natural parks. Be brave and go off the main roads onto the little windy lanes. You will be rewarded with discovering quaint unspoilt villages and chateaux inviting you in for more wine!
