Built in a traditional Vendeene style, Les Peupliers is situated in the unspoilt hamlet of La Baffardiere, which forms part of a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, within the River Yon Nature Reserve. The property sits in a quiet lane with no through traffic, from where there are many walks and cycle rides through wooded lanes and paths down to the River yon. The pretty village of Le Champs St Pere is only a short drive or bike ride away, where you will find a supermarket with petrol station, pharmacy, bakery, bar and restaurant and a market in the village square in Thursday mornings. 20 minutes to the North of Le Champs St Pere is the thriving university town of La Roche Sur Yon, and equidistant to the South is the historic, cathedral town of Lucon. The beautiful city of La Rochelle and exclusive Ile de Re are under 1 hour away.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday in Peak season, but with more flexibility at other times of the year.

Outside
Both the front and pool terraces have tables and chairs for outdoor dining and there is a cast iron BBQ. The pool area has 6 loungers and a parasol. Pool: 8 x 4m walled, private, heated pool with roman steps and underwater lighting. There is a lockable gate leading from the garden to the pool area and child safety features on the french doors leading from inside the villa to the pool. The pool is heated by a heat exchange system, which keeps it at a temperature approximately 6-8ºC above the ambient air temperature and is fully maintained and open from the beginning of April until the end of October. There is a full size outdoor table tennis table at the rear of the property. The villa is extremely private and set well back from the lane. There are double gates at the front, leading to the long gravel driveway with ample parking for several cars.
Coast/Beach
In this area we are spoiled for choice when it comes to beaches. Our nearest beach is Longeville, which is approximately 20 minutes drive from the villa, is great for water sports and very safe for young children. Beautiful, unspoilt beaches also at Bourgenay, La Tranche-sur-mer, Les Sables and many others. Our favourite is 'La Terrier', which is part of the stretch at La Tranche and has a fantastic surfing beach, great beach bars, water sports and is never too crowded.
Golf
For golfers there are excellent courses at Domangere in Nesmy (approximately 15 minutes) - golf course with the highest slope in France and at Port Bourgenay (approximately 30 minutes) - one championship standard course combining sea, forest and views from above the marina and also a second 18 hole pitch and put.
Travel
Both the airports at La Rochelle (45 minutes) and Nantes (1 hour), are well serviced with flights from the UK, namely by the budget airlines Ryanair and Flybe. The house can be reached by motorway in under 3 hours from St Malo (4 hours Caen), into which Brittany Ferries have frequent sailings from Portsmouth and others We can offer guests traveling with Brittany Ferries a discount. Please contact us for further information and advice about travelling to the Vendee.
Further details
Sailing, fishing, canoeing, horse riding and go-carting are all available locally and a Zip Wire Adventure Park is situated in the nearby Indian Forest. It is only a short walk from the villa down to the River Yon which also provides great fishing and cycling, with picnic areas and the local wine trail clearly signposted.
Booking notes
A deposit of 20% is required to secure a booking, with the balance due 8 weeks before departure. A refundable damages deposit of £250 is also required with the full payment and will be returned within 2 weeks of departure.

We chose to buy a holiday home in this area because we love the combination of peaceful, unspoiled countryside alongside miles of beautiful uncrowded beaches. It's the perfect place to relax, but we also like being able to dip into the more 'touristy' areas when the fancy takes us! The villa is where we spend most of our holiday time and so is furnished and equipped to a very high standard.
