"Feels like coming home"
Last year we booked Wren cottage at Les Sarrazinies after seeing some pictures on the internet, looking for a nice place to stay in the Dordogne. We had no idea they don't do the place justice! Les Sarrazinies is a french paradise surrounded by perfectly maintained english lawns and flowers. We enjoyed Wren very much with its shaded terrace, great barbeque place and lovely pool view. Our daughter of nine really loved the pool and so did we. We explored the towns of Le Bugue and Les Eysies and some chateaus and prehistoric caves in the area. Lascaux 2 is a must see! No wonder we just had to come back this year. It felt like coming home, not in the least by the warm welcome by Lindy and Mike. We just continued where we left off last year. We will definitely come back!

"Our very own Paradise"
We (my wife and 2 daughters7 and 11) have just returned from our third visit to Les Sarrazines and have once again had a brilliant time. We stayed in Jasmine accommodation and found the property to be very well equipped with the added bonus of a new kitchen and a dishwasher!! The bedrooms are light and comfortable and are ideal for a young family. My girls loved the pool and would have spent all day swimming if we had let them! I can recommend Le Bugue for all your main shopping ( about 5miles away) an ideal place for lunch and a wander. We also liked Les Eyzies a bit further on where you can canoe and do lunch if the mood takes you?We did venture to an air park which was great fun ( worth a visit) Mike and Lindy your hosts are always happy to help. I personally enjoyed fishing in the lake catching Chub,Roach and Carp, although a holidays fisherman there is something magical listening to the wildlife whilst fishing. We have already booked to return in May bringing friends with us. We can't wait.

"A special place"
As a family of 12 we have just enjoyed a wonderful time at Les Sarrazinies, yet again. The setting is perfect, if you want a safe place for the children, and space for the adults to relax. The pool was a great hit for the grandchildren, and grown ups too! Lots of places to visit as well. Mike and Lindy were very welcoming and helpful. Would recommend visit to gardens of Marqueysac, and of course the Various caves are always worth seeing. Shopping at Le Bugue is very good, though the town is very busy in August. Recommend getting in there early, as with all the attractions! We have been visiting Les Sarrazinies on and off since 1996, and the place never fails to please us. Thank you to Mike and Lindy, again. I am sure we will be back again.

"Look no further"
We have stayed a couple of times at Mike & Lindy's piece of piece of calm and tranquility but missed out this year as we had commitments and couldn't book early enough to get the weeks we wanted but we will return. We have stayed in Wren and Kiwi and enjoyed both equally. Accommodation is very clean with a lot of thought for details. I believe that they have fitted new kitchens this year so it will be even better. It's a short 10 mtr walk to the fenced off pool with with sun loungers and there are ample ground with lovely walks so that you can take in the tranquility of the area. A treat is to quietly sit by the lake and you will be rewarded with sight of the red squirrels coming down to the waters edge. A lovely place to just sit and stare. Mike and Lindy will make you feel welcome and help you out with any queries and you will enjoy the chat on the Sunday evening after you arrive to give you all the info of best places to visit and eat in the area. Get them to take you to the Paunet Night Market, it is a wonderful atmosphere and you will see Mike and Lindy dancing. It is a sight to behold. I could go on for quite a while but I will finish with this. There are very few holidays that I have gone to on more than one occasion but this is the exception. We will return again and again and count Mike and Lindy as friends. Book, Pack and Go. you won't regret it. Ken and Trish. (Guildford )

We had an excellent fortnight, and many thanks to Mike & Lindy for their hospitality - nothing was too much trouble. When we are in the Dordogne, we will definitely not stay anywhere else. It was absolutely ideal for the children with the pool, games and wide open spaces, as well as the opportunity to mix with other children. The Jones family - Guildford.
In the words of our son - "11 out of 10". Our second trip to Sarrazinies every bit as enjoyable as the first. The Whittons - Tasmania.
Mike - your web site does not do this place justice.
John & Hilary - Sollihull.
This is our 15th visit to Les Sarrazinies and we are still trying to make up our minds if we like the place or not!! However we will be back next year to have another go!

About the Owner
Lindy and I were not actually house hunting when the agent took us to see Les Sarrazinies - merely practising for a time in the future. We met outside the village church and found ourselves driving up the properties wooded avenue before emerging on the brow of a hill next to the 18th C. farmhouse. As we stepped out of the car and looked 300 metres down the lawns to the lake and on into the woods, we were completely blown away by the sheer beauty and tranquillity of the place.
Without even going in to the buildings, we knew we had found the right place and fast tracked our retirement.
Since acquiring Les Sarrazinies, we have updated the cottages - originally barns and rooms for smoking hams and roasting chestnuts. Visitors return time and time again and have become friends.
Year property purchased: 2001
Why this location?
Les Sarrazinies offers the best of both worlds - complete tranquillity in the centre of a 65 acre estate. Ideal for children (or grandchildren in our case). Yet within a 10 minutes drive can be found a dozen restaurants, an excellent supermarket, an 18 hole golf course and English speaking doctors and vets. Within 40 minutes are all the top tourist destinations in the southern Dordogne - the caves at Lascaux 2, the chateaux at Beynac and Castlenaud and the Dordogne and Vezere fishing and canoeing rivers. We host a drinks party at the beginning of the week so that we can share our local knowledge on restaurants, markets, tourist sites and vineyards. It's also a chance to get to know your neighbours!
What are the unique benefits of the property?
Fishing in the lake - a catfish broke a 20 lb line 3 years ago! In 2012 we plan to set up a live camera feed from the top of the pigoniere (where barn owls breed most years) to an accessible monitor. Nesting box for kestrel in the woods. A deep man made shaft in the woods where it is believed the French resistance stored their weapons and ammo. Use of herb garden - rosemary, basil, thyme, mint, tarragon and parsley. Wild boar farm within walking distance where you can see the young boar and buy boar products for the BBQ.
