Notes on accommodation
There is a patio area to the front and back of the gite where you can dine or simply soak up the sun under a parasol. As there are extensive garden grounds there are many seating areas to enjoy. At the pool (15x5) metres, there are several sun loungers and tables,and also a pool house, which has a WC. and fridge/freezer for your drinks and snacks. A truly fantastic place to relax and have fun with outstanding views over the countryside in one direction and a massive lawn in the other. There is also an outdoor table tennis table, and garden bowls. A barbecue is available for those who wish to use it. We have English TV and free Wi-Fi in the gite and a welcome pack will await you when you arrive. A car is essential for your stay.

The gite is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The garden grounds are delightful with glorious scented lavender borders, and manicured lawns, a sweeping driveway leading up to the electric entrance gates, this is the views from the front of the gite which is nestled in the centre of the grounds. At the rear of the gite, you have fantastic views of most of the garden grounds, and of the fields beyond. The pool area is to the back of the house, with lawn on one side and views of the rear gardens, and fields beyond on the other side. There are many areas in the grounds to sit and relax, or jog, whatever is your preference.
Coast/Beach
The coastal resort of Royan is a 1 hour drive, with its long promenade of shops, bars and restaurants, and a golden sandy beach, it is definitely worth a visit. Further on is La Rochelle, about 1hour 30 minute drive. La Rochelle has many shops and beaches. La Palmyre boasts one of the largest and less crowded beaches in the area, near Royan, a 1 hour drive. La Palmyre also has the largest zoo in europe with over 1600 animals it is a great day out for adults and children alike.
Golf
There are a few golf courses within easy driving distance; Ligue du Golf --30 minute drive. Golf International de la Preze-- 1hour drive. Golf de la Porcelaine (par 72)---2 hour drive. Golf de Brive, Planchetorte (par 71)--1hour 45 minute drive. Golf la Pree, La Rochelle (par 72)---2 hour drive. There is also a local course in Angouleme, but reports are that it is extremely hilly,--20 minute drive.
Cognac has a par 72 course, 6122 metres--45 minute drive. Royan has a par 71 course 5970 metres---1 hour drive. These are but a few, there are many more within a 2 hour drive.
Special interest holidays
Le Manoir is perfect for painting, as there are many landscapes in and around the grounds.Some of our previous guests were artists, who were inspired by the different landscapes. Cookery courses. Bicycle hire is available.
Travel
A car is essential, and there are many car hire firms in Angouleme to choose from. Airports; Poitiers-(1hr15min) Limoges-(1hour30min) La Rochelle-(1hr 45min) Bordeaux-(2 hr) Angouleme-(35min). Le manoir is very accessible by air, road or rail. Angouleme tgv station is a 20 min. drive. Bordeaux is 1hr. by train from Angouleme. Paris (Charles de Gaulle)airport is 3hrs by train. Calais and the channel tunnel(8hr) drive. St. Malo ferry port(5hr) drive.
Distances
D'hersac village is a 5 minute drive,where you will find the local shops,(Boulangerie,Boucherie, Tabac etc.) Rouillac (15min) has a large supermarket, and the drive through the country roads and hamlets is truly enchanting. there are also market days in Rouillac, Jarnac (20 min) and Angouleme (20min).
Jarnac is very pretty and the Charantaise river runs through it. You can go fishing, take a boat ride down the river or visit the famous brandy house "Courvoisier."
Further details
There are many festivals on throughout the summer. Angouleme hosts the vintage car rally race where the cars race through the streets of Angouleme. The atmosphere is terrific and it's a fun day out. Jarnac has a jazz festival, where acts come year after year to entertain. Cognac has many festivals also, and when booking, you will be advised what festivals are on during your time with us.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of 30% will secure your booking.The balance payable 6 weeks befor arrival date. A £500 refundable deposit is also required for breakages. For bookings for October there is a heating charge of
£50 per week.
