Aou Carde, in the heart of the Gascon countryside, stands in an elevated peaceful position in a small hamlet, with stunning views of the Pyrenees. Supermarket & restaurants are 10 minutes drive away in Masseube. There are five charming gites converted from the original farm buildings, each has its own patio, two have south-facing balconies. With beautiful grounds & fantastic swimming pool, well-equipped games room & play area, Aou Carde provides excellent facilities for a family holiday & all year round it is the ideal place for nature-lovers, cyclists & walkers. The Gers is an unspoilt area with a relaxed lifestyle, there is little traffic, so driving is a joy amidst the beautiful ever-changing scenery. Historic towns & villages are only a short car journey Auch capital of the Gers 30 minutes, Mirande with its traditional Monday market 15 minutes. In July/August there are music festivals, Salsa in Vic-Fezansac, Country & Western in Mirande, and it's Jazz in Marciac!

L'Etable

L'Etable, originally the stables for the farmhouse, provides accommodation for 4 people in double and twin rooms on the ground floor plus an extra bed can be provided if requested. Wooden stairs lead upstairs to the large open plan living room with cathedral ceiling and exposed beams. There is a well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster as well as a large dining table and chairs. French windows open from the seating area with its English TV and video/DVD onto the south facing balcony with fantastic views of the Pyrenees, an ideal place for breakfast! Downstairs the shower room with toilet and wash basin is accessed through either bedroom. There is a barbecue area and patio with garden furniture outside L'Etable's front door. |

La Feniere

La Feniere, originally the hayloft of this ancient colombage barn can accommodate 6/7 people in four bedrooms comprising a double, a twin, a single and a bunk room. Please note that an extra 2/3 persons could be accommodated in the adjacent Studio gite (price available on demand) The open-plan living room on the first floor is reached by wooden stairs and this beautiful beamed room with a cathedral ceiling leads onto a south facing integral balcony. This is large enough for the whole family to breakfast or sit and enjoy the view. The well equipped kitchen area has cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. There is a large dining table and chairs and a comfortable seating area with English T.V. and video/DVD. Downstairs there is a shower room with double hand basins and toilet, plus an extra toilet room alongside. Outside the front door is a barbecue area and patio with garden furniture. |

Le Grenier

Le Grenier contains a wealth of features including original stone walls and exposed beams, it has been converted from the grainstore and there are old tools and farm implements on the walls. Stairs lead from Le Grenier's own shady patio and garden to the first floor open-plan living space. Here the kitchen has cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and a full range of utensils and equipment. In one corner of the room is a dining table and chairs and at the other is a sofa with two comfortable armchairs as well as English TV and video. The double bedroom and shower room are also on this level. The twin-bedded room is reached by wooden stairs out of the living area and has wonderful views of the mountains. There is a private entrance/parking area for this gite away from the main house yet it still has easy access to all Aou Carde’s facilities. |

Notes on accommodation
Open all year. B&B evening meal available in the Farmhouse or Studio gite. Cot, highchair, pushchair available on request. Linen is provided, and towel bales can be rented for a small charge. Laundry facilities, Internet/office facilities.
Outside
Set in 1.5 acres of mature gardens and orchard with wonderful fish pond full of interesting wildlife.
The swimming pool 10 x 6.25 metres is surrounded by a secure wall and fence.Within this, sunloungers & parasols are provided on the plage and grass area. There is the added bonus of a toddlers' pool.
The games room is well equipped with pool table, darts, table tennis, table football and a variety of boxed games and toys. In here there is also a library and lots of tourist information.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast at Biarritz and St Jean de Luz is juat over two hours drive away. This is an enjoyable day out and well worth it with spectacular views of the Pyrenees nearly all the way. The Mediterranean coast at Narbonne is a little further about three hours.

The nearest ski resorts of St Lary & Val Louron 1.5 hours
Travel
Nearest airports are Toulouse and Pau both about one and a half hours away. Biaritzz is just over two hours and Carcassonne is about two and a half hours. Bordeaux and Bergerac are further about three hours drive. We can arrange airport pick-ups and car hire in Auch if required.
By car we are about 10-11 hours drive from Calais.
Distances
Boulangerie 5 minutes drive away in Viozan where there is also a bar and restaurant.
Local village of Masseube 10 minutes drive offering most facilities...supermarket, shops,restaurants, chemist, doctor and banks.
Large hypermarket, shopping and tourist attractions in historic Auch 25 minutes drive.
Ancient bastide town of Mirande with a colourful market and leisure complex 15 minutes drive.
Further details
A variety of water activities including leisure lakes, river rafting and canoing are less than an hour's drive.
Horse-riding, aerial runways and quad biking are available nearby.
The Central Pyrenees and the Pic du Midi can be seen from the property and provide excellent trips and walking opportunities. Historical castles such as Mauvezin and Lavardens are not to be missed and the northern Gers has such gems as Larressingle (little Carcassonne) and the amazing roman mosaic pavements at Seviac.
Booking notes
Deposit of 20% with your booking form and the balance 8 weeks prior to your arrival.A refund deposit of £100 is also required. This will be banked and held as security to cover accidental damage to or at the property, any additional cleaning charges and breakage costs.

A great first time "rural France" holiday, this was the perfect setting. The children have enjoyed the freedom of this wonderfully safe environment and we've had a great and comfortable stay in La Feniere........... thanks too to our hosts who have been friendly, helpful and hospitable at all times.
Far more than we expected ! Lovely accommodation, idyllic surroundings, friendly, hospitable hosts and great weather!
