Notes on accommodation
Our house is situated within the same hamlet and our tumble dryer is at your disposal. We have two camp-beds available if desired, however, please take into account that all the dining tables seat six. They could, however, be appropriate for small children and there is room in the twin room for the extra beds. The downstairs WC accommodates the twin room during the night hours. The second two bedrooms are upstairs on the same floor as the bathroom.
The Cottage is also a wonderful house for winter breaks. It is fully heated with radiators throughout and underfloor heating in the downstairs. Wood is provided for the log fire and the cook can provide you with sumptuous meals. Walking in winter is a lovely experience. The air is crisp and dry, and we have lots of sunshine. The views are longer without the leaves on the trees. There is a "western" riding stable 10 minutes away and it is open all year round. The whole area is very peaceful in the winter and autumn months.
Accessibility
The terrain in this region is sloping and not very wheelchair friendly. The house itself is old and has some original, uneven steps and the front door is narrow.
Outside
In front of the house there is a large south-facing terrace with a table and chairs for six, with two large parasols. The garden has a circular lawn, raised dry-stone rose-beds and beds of lavender. There is a large bench here. Stone steps lead to a lower level and a large decked area under trees. The views from here are gorgeous. There is a table and chairs for six and two hammock chairs. The Cottage has four very good sun-loungers. There is a modern BBQ, and charcoal will be provided. A large plunge pool is also provided. There is a gravel area with parking for two cars. The property is gated.
Golf
The nearest golf course is 45 minutes away. Within a one hour drive there are several others, including two very beautiful ones. My husband has a good set of golf clubs that you can borrow if you don't want to bring your own.
Skiing
The nearest skiing is in the Massif Centrale (50 minutes drive away). The ski resort here are not expensive and ideal for the less experienced skier.
Special interest holidays
Cookery classes are available for both adults and children. We can also "do" christmas and easter, or special occasion breaks. The package would include decoration, meals, treasure hunts etc. We love making a fuss of people. Guided walks are also available for those who wish to be accompanied. We also encourage yoga and other therapeutic retreats. Vegetarian meals can also be provided and the house is lovely all year round.
winter breaks for a real rest.

Owner profile
About the owner
The owners of this property are Johan and Venetia Hos. Johan is Dutch and he is a translator. Venetia is an interior designer and a cook. We have lived here for 12 years and in that time Venetia has been catering for special events and we have run a private dining business. Venetia is a passionate cook and has a large repertoire from all around the world. She is also very knowledgeable about nutrition and caters for all dietary requirements.
We have spent the past six years renovating The Cottage. The house was completely derelict, having been left empty since 1935. It had no water or electricity and an asbestos roof.
Johan and I don't have any children but we love them (and have 10 godchildren), so they are very welcome.
Year purchased: 2005
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Johan and I had always loved the property and finally we managed to persuade the owners to sell it. It was a labour of love. The hamlet is beautiful and it seemed such a shame that the cottage was a ruin. She has some wonderful 17th century features and they were crying out to be brought back to life. This is a gorgeous, peaceful part of France. The local people are very friendly and we've loved every second of living here. We don't intend to move anywhere else. The local village has everything we need, but any journey made is beautiful and with next to no traffic. So every car journey is a joy. Being so far into the countryside there is no distance hum of traffic and no passenger flight-paths. We are 500m above sea-level and the air is clean and clear.
Unique benefits of the property
We lived at the cottage for seven weeks last year. It was wonderfully comfortable. Our house is in the same hamlet but we cannot see the cottage and so you will have total privacy. On the other hand we are there should you need anything. There is also an irrigation system so that we don't have to come and water the garden.
