The house comfortably sleeps 4 people and offers accommodation in one of the most popular and sunny regions of France. Alet is a picturesque walled village near the market town of Limoux, famous for its sparkling wine. Situated approximately 30 kilometres from Carcassonne in the south-west of France, and set against a mountain backdrop, the village is a beautiful example of romanesque architecture. Attractions include a ruined Abbey dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries.

| Bedrooms: | Upstairs there is a king-size bedroom and a twin room. The latter looks out onto the mountain to the rear of the property. |

| Kitchen: | The bijou, yet fully equipped kitchen is accessed off the main room and has a traditional style. Included is a gas cooker and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave. |
| Living Rooms: | The lounge has an airy, open plan layout with a comfortable sitting area equipped with a DVD player and a versatile dining area. |

Outside
At the rear of the house is a private courtyard garden, which is accessed through French doors from the main room. With a table and chairs, and a barbecue it is perfect for al fresco dining.
Coast/Beach
The mediterranean coast is an hour's drive away from Alet. You will find excellent beaches at Narbonne Plage and Guissan. Further afield, Canet Plage, the major resort of Perpignan is approximately an hour and a half's drive.
Golf
Golf course can be found at nearby Carcassonne which is approximately a 30 minute drive. The 9th hole of this course has been named by several golf magazines as the most original in Europe.
Skiing
There are numerous Pyrenean ski resorts within an hour's drive of Alet. The nearest is approximately 45 minutes away at Camurac.
Larger resorts can be found at Ax-Les-Thermes and Les Angles which are both approximately an hour and a half away.
Font Romeau and Andorra are a 2 hour drive from Alet.
Special interest holidays
Should you exhaust the activities available in and around Alet, the glorious sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coast are just an hour away, as are a number of ski resorts in the Pyrenees. These are also popular outside of the ski season with walkers and photographers. There is also a freshwater lake within a 45 minute drive. La Cite in Carcassonne is a World Heritage site. A city within castle walls, it offers many shops, bars and restaurants as well as a rich history and spectacular views over the surrounding area. Rennes les Chateau which has links to the da vinci code is a mere 10 minutes drive away.
Travel
Alet is easily accessible from a number of airports, including Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse, Beziers, Montpellier, Girona (Barcelona) and Nimes, to which a number of low cost airlines fly. Car hire is available from these airports through the major operators. Ryanair fly from Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin and East Midlands airports to Carcassonne, which is situated only 30 minutes from Alet. BA and Easy Jet fly to Toulouse, an hour and a half from Alet.
Distances
Limoux is approximately 10 minutes from Alet. Carcassonne is 30 minutes from Alet.
Further details
The village boasts a heated, open-air swimming pool, filled by the eau de source, open from mid June to early September. It also has a small football pitch and running track, a tennis court, boules area and an activity centre for older children. There is a hotel with a bar and retaurant, and a selection of local shops. The more adventurous may like to try canoeing along the fast flowing Aude river, which runs through the village - a perfect place to take a picnic. For those feeling lucky there is a casino nearby. The house is siuated off a delightful medieval square featuring traditional medieval houses, including the one where Nostradamus was believed to have lived. There is a lovely heated outdoor pool at nearby Rennes les Bains.
Booking notes
All bookings are to be accompanied by a 25% deposit with final payment due 6 weeks before rental. A small security deposit cheque is requested in advance and returned following the holiday for safekeeping of the key.
