Owner profile
About the owner
Anne, the Aussie, and Bruce the Kiwi, have lived year round in France since 2000.
Two years in Provence saw us creating and operating our B n B in Saint Remy de Provence.
We moved to Burgundy in December 2002, spent all of 2003 undertaking 'work' on our property - Bruce the demolition, Anne the redecoration - et voila! self-catering accommodation appears!
Year purchased: 2002
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Our visits to Burgundy pre-2002 had really impressed us, and the area has lived up to our expectations.
The gentle pace of life is very appealing. Hustle and bustle, that's some place else. The people are very friendly and take time to talk to you. At least twice a year guests arrive à chez nous having been escorted by local residents. The countryside is warm, gentle and delightfully French. (what else?) We enjoy the variety of scenes, the wine, stone villages, cycling, the wine, vineyards the Canal du Centre - did we mention the wine. Beaune - don't get us started - still in love with it after 9 years.
Unique benefits of the property
Our guests frequently comment on how peaceful it is at la Maison Chaudenay. Yet, our location is very convenient to many of Burgundy's appeals. Restaurants are only minutes away, from Michelin stars to local Bistrots; the vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Pommard etc are nearby; Beaune a 15 min drive away; walking and cycling are on our doorstep - bicycles are available for use. We try and stock our apartments well - you can leave your pepper and olive oil at home for example. Guests enjoy our 'common room' where a computer is available to check your emails - there is also a wi-fi (wireless) hotspot on the property. The ladies enjoy that there is a washing machine in each apartment so their male partners can tackle the washing while the ladies check the emails!
