Try the unusual experience of playing golf at the nearby mountain courses at Tignes or Les Arcs. You'll be amazed at how much further the ball travels at 2000m altitude, and the slopes are a good test of the accuracy of your game. You can enjoy the mountain views as you play, especially at Les Arcs where the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc provides a stunning back drop.
Skiing
We are ideally placed to ski Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosiere as well as the powder paradise of Sainte Foy. All these resorts can be reached within 20 minutes by car from the Auberge giving you access to some of the best skiing in the Alps. Skiers and boarders of all levels and tastes will be spoilt for choice.
Special interest holidays
We host a number of off-piste skiing and ski-touring courses at the Auberge each winter for all levels - beginners, intermediates and advanced.
Travel
Our nearest airports are Chambery, Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva all of which are served by one of the low-cost airlines. Our nearest rail station is Bourg St Maurice which is served by a direct Eurostar service in the winter. We are an easy 10 hour drive from the channel ports. A car is useful, especially in the summer.
Distances
The small resort and village of Sainte Foy Tarentaise with their shops, bars and restaurants are 5 minutes drive away, whilst the bright lights of Val d'Isere or Bourg St Maurice are 15 minutes drive away. We are within easy reach of the Vanoise National Park in summer and the lake at Annecy for swimming and water sports.

About the owner
The Auberge was built in 1975 by a local restaurateur. He used original materials from two derelict 17th century granges that still stand some 500 metres away. The bar ceiling is constructed from the barn floor and the dining room walls are made from some of the original stone from the granges.
We, Sue and Andy Mac (Mac is short for MacInnes, Andy's Scottish surname), bought the Auberge in the summer of 1995 and lovingly restored it to its present rustic splendour. We have been running it as a chalet-hotel, both summer and winter, ever since giving us almost 15 years experience of ensuring that our guests enjoy their stay with us to the full.
We are keen off-piste skiers, cyclists and hikers and love the area around Sainte Foy for its stunning views.
Year purchased: 1995
Why the owner chose a home in this location
It's in the heart of some of the best skiing, and most stunning scenery in France. We personally choose to ski mainly at Sainte Foy, but it's nice to have the option to ski some of the bigger resorts if we feel like it. We can be at Val d'Isere, Tignes or Les Arcs in 15 minutes and we love the novelty of skiing across the border from La Rosiere in France to La Thuile in Italy for a hearty pasta lunch!
In the summer the mountains offer some stunning hiking and biking routes.
Unique benefits of the property
The Auberge is situated just off the main Bourg St Maurice to Val d'Isere road. Perched some 100 metres above the road and surrounded by fields it's quiet and peaceful whilst still offering easy access. The fields offer great sledging routes too!
We particularly love sitting in the 40 degree water in the hot tub when it's cold and snowy, gazing at the moonlit mountains and sipping a cold beer or glass of champagne.
