The Barn Owl has its own private entrance, garden and terrace with barbecue and garden furniture. We have a swimming pool (11m x 7m) and sun terrace, equipped with loungers and pool toys. There is also a boulodrome, swing set for the children and outside ping pong table. A five minute walk from the gite is the Lac des Montagnes where there are cafes, restaurants, crazy golf, tennis courts and a small child-friendly beach with a water play area and life guard. Local activities include fishing, golf, horse riding, lakes for swimming, rivers, cycling and walking. A five minute drive from the gites is the medieval village of Hautpoul - the original site of Mazamet. Mazamet - 8km - is the closest town with supermarkets, pharmacies, boutiques, doctors, bars and restaurants. Carcassonne - 45km - the Cite de Carcassonne is the largest fortress in Europe and has 14 towers. Golf - La Barouge Golf Club is 20 minutes away.

Changeover day
During the "high season" the changeover day is Saturday. Check in time is 2pm and checkout is 10am. For stays outside the "high season" we are more flexible on arrival days.

Private garden with patio, barbecue and outdoor furniture. Washing line and car parking area. The swimming pool is 11m x 7m and complies with all French safety regulations. There is a large sun terrace surrounding the pool and sun loungers and pool toys are provided. There is an outdoor ping pong table and swing set. There is also a boulodrom and the boules are provided.

Carcassonne Airport is a 40 minute drive. Toulouse Airport is an hour and a half drive.
Distances
Mazamet is the closest town, it is a 10 minute, 8km drive. Carcassonne is a 40 minute drive, Castres is 20 minutes and Albi is 30 minutes.

There is everything you need in Mazamet, shops, restaurants, banks, supermarkets etc. The closest restaurant is at the Lac des Montagnes which is a 5 minute walk from the gite.
Booking notes
Once you have confirmed your booking a deposit of 200 euros is required. The balance of the payment is due 8 weeks before arrival. We also offer to do some basic shopping for you, payment for this is payable on arrival. A breakages deposit is also required on arrival which is paid back to you on your departure. The local tax de sejour is 88 centimes per night per person over the age of 14.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose this area of France because of it's beauty. It really is quite stunning, we're lucky enough to live in the Montagne Noire surrounded by forests and lakes. We love the peace and quite but we're close enough to Mazamet to enjoy the cafe lifestyle. The people in this area of France are truely lovely and have adopted us into the French way of life - we feel we are very lucky to have found this little piece of paradise!
Unique benefits of the property
We live on site and therefore at hand if you should need anything at all, i.e. reserving tables at restaurants, information on what to do and where to go. However, if you don't want to see us then you don't have to!!! Because we are situated in 10 acres of privately owned land, children can run around and be safe and therefore the parents can relax knowing that their children can come to no harm. Also because there is plenty to do on site you don't have to venture out if you don't want to.
