Lovely place, lovely people, thanks Anni and Nick for being great hosts. Hope to see you again soon. The Hoopers.

Excellent facilities, hospitality and entertainment, great food and drink. An ideal touring centre. Showers very good - always a sign of quality. Johnson.

A pity we couldn't stay longer! We loved the tranquility and the children had a great time playing in the garden and making friends with Piglet. The gite is excellent and we've enjoyed seeing a little of the region too. Lockwood.

One time here and you never want to go anywhere else, above all not back home! The chimney was a fascinating thing for us. Thank you for giving us advice and help in starting it. We can be lucky we that we've found such wonderful people like you are to be our hosts. Thanks a lot to you both. We'll be back as soon as possible! Homburg Koln, Germany.

Owner profile

About the owner
We are Anni & Nick and we have lived in Normandy, France since 1992. Nick is a carpenter and works locally, he is a specialist in repairing the timber framed houses of this area. Anni ran a country pub in England for five years, cooking and entertaining is her passion. Annique was nearly a ruin in 1992 and many years of hard work has made it the property it is today. It was bought with the heart and continues to be the centre of our lives. Nick is constantly improving the facilities here. We have a large garden and enjoy trying to make it as nice as possible but keeping the rustic style that it should have. We love meeting new people enjoying a glass or two with them and discussing this beautiful region.

Year purchased: 1992

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought Annique with our hearts it was such a beautiful sad house in need of lots of TLC and money. It had not been lived in for over 30 years we managed to make it come back to life and filled it with lots of people enjoying their holiday. Livarot is a lovely rural area with small farms of pretty cows and attractive timber frame houses. The local people are so friendly and have made us so welcome. The food is wonderful with fresh produce available from the many markets. We are so lucky to live in a very rural place but with everything on our doorstep. The larger towns of Lisieux and Caen have most services we require. An excellent train service from Lisieux to Paris is a real bonus. Lovely sandy beaches are not far as well as the sophistication of Deauville and Trouville.

Unique benefits of the property
Annique has everything you need for a relaxing holiday with all the comforts of home. We are easily reached from all the ports and airports. It is a special place and it is not easy to put into words what it is that is so special. But people do keep coming back to stay here and we even have children now grown up who come back with their partners. We live on the premises and it is up to you whether you see us every day or only on check in and check out. We always try and sort out any problems with the houses straight away so as not to spoil your time here. We are close to so many different places to visit so it is possible to keep all the family happy, with most things not too far it is possible to combine two trips in a day ie beach for the children, museum for Dad some shopping for Mum.
