Revel is a magical and lovingly restored farmhouse set in 50 acres of peaceful meadows and woodland. There are country footpaths and woodland walks on all sides of the property and quiet country lanes to wander down. There is an abundance of wildlife, birds and wild flowers in the area and mile upon mile of unspoilt French rural countryside.

Travel
The house is conveniently situated between Toulouse and Bergerac airports, one and a quarter hours drive from each.
If flying, car hire is essential.
Distances
Bourg de Visa is the nearest village, 5 minutes drive with a boulangerie, bank, two small supermarkets and a chemist.
A short drive will bring you to Rocquecor, a pretty hilltop village with a good restaurant, bar and a small Sunday market.
Montaigu de Quercy, 15 minutes drive, has a good range of small shops, a larger supermarket and a large Saturday morning market. There is also a large open air swimming lake with restaurant.
Further details
Lauzerte is a must to visit, a beautiful hill top town, also with a small market and a very good restaurant - only a 20 minute drive away. Sunday mornings can easily be spent browsing around the lovely market at Montcuq.
The nearby town of Moissac offers a Romanesque abbey and cloisters to visit.
The beautiful town of Cahors and the Lot Valley are an hours drive away.

About the owner
I have exchanged the hectic pace and responsibilities of life as a headteacher for an opportunity to enjoy different pursuits as homemaker, cooking and living with the seasons (excellent chutney maker), wood collector and budding writer.
My husband Dick works in the UK and internationally on leadership development and climate change. When he is in France he enjoys working with wood, writing songs and performing them with a small group of musicians.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The house is in a very beautiful rural area and there are many pretty small towns and villages. In particular the nearby hilltop villages of Lauzerte, Tournon, Penne are very interesting to visit. There are superb markets in the area and the beauty of being here is that you can enjoy cooking the local seasonal produce using the many recipe books that I have in my kitchen. Also there are some excellent restaurants within striking distance of the house.
Unique benefits of the property
Revel is a beautiful house where you can enjoy a peaceful, calm and relaxing holiday. It is completely surrounded by its own meadows and woods.
In the springtime and early summer there are an abundance of wild flowers and wild orchids. The summer brings a huge variety of butterflies and moths attracted by the lavender around the house. In early June we are treated to the swifts arriving and putting on amazing aerial displays. There is a large pool to sink into on those very hot days in July and August. Most people who come to Revel don't feel the need to go anywhere else! The only outings are for food and wine (of course)!
