Set in a former farmhouse nestling in a beautiful valley close to the Dordogne in the Haut Quercy, Le Ségala offers you a comfortable holiday home from which to discover this lovely part of France. Ideal for up to 8 people and with its own private fully fenced and alarmed pool (seven metres in the round), large garden with fruit and walnut orchards. This area of the Lot is in the Dordogne River valley and near Rocamadour, famous caves, beautiful scenery, fortified villages and medieval architecture. There are lots of activites for all ages and festivals, car boot sales and eating out in village squares can all be found within a short distance of Le Segala. The house is situated close to the Correze border and about 20 minutes from the N20 motorway, and with the Limoges, Bergerac and Rodez airports all within 1¾ hour distance – even Toulouse is only just over 2 hours away. It is peaceful and stress-free and it is our aim to ensure that your stay is both relaxed and happy.

Notes on prices
Prices shown per week in Euros. It is possible to pay in sterling at the prevailing rate at the time of payment. Longer lets out of the summer season by negotiation. Short stays of 3 or 4 days available out of high season. We offer special rates for 5 or less people out of high season - just contact us!
Changeover day
Changeover is on Saturday during high season when guests may arrive after 4pm and departures must be before 10.30am.
As short breaks (minimum of three days) are available in April, May, June, September and October, the changeover day is flexible.
| Bedrooms: | 2 double bedded rooms and one bedroom with twin beds on upper floor. One double bedroom on ground floor. A cot is available on request. All linen, blankets and duvets are included in the price. |
| Bathrooms: | All en-suites to the bedrooms on the first floor with shower, basin and WC. The ground floor shower room also has a basin and the WC is separate. |
| Kitchen: | The fully equipped French style kitchen/dining room seating eight, also contains a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There is a wood burning stove for chilly days. |
| Utility Room: | The utility room is in the former 'four au pain' (bread oven) and houses the washing machine, a second fridge, iron and board, and the 'whirly-gig' when not in use. |
| Living Rooms: | The beamed living room seats eight people comfortably and has its own door to the garden. In the winter, here, too, is a wood burning stove. It has a DVD player, video player, and music system. There are also a selection of games for all ages. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Linen and towels are included - one set per bed per week. Swimming towels are also provided. Use of the house towels by the pool is not permitted. Interim cleaning can be arranged. |
Notes on accommodation
For emergency internet and telephone facilities, it is possible to use the owners' private facilities.
NB The TV is for videos and DVDs only.
Accessibility
There are steps at various points on the property and visitors must be aware that as this is an old farmhouse, the corridors are not wide enough for wheelchairs.
Outside
The private swimming pool is 7 metres in the round and 1.5 metres deep - and there is also an outdoor cold shower by the pool. This area is fully fenced and the pool has an alarm in line with EU directives. There is plenty of space to sunbathe and enjoy the uninterrupted views down the valley. The pool is maintained by the owners so you can enjoy your holiday.
There is a barbeque and several seating areas where you can enjoy a quiet read and snooze! You can also eat outside in the evenings at a table for 8-10 under the welcome shade of the oaktree! A boules set and badmintion equipment is provided for your use. Le Segala is on four acres of land with walnut and fruit trees -a great place for children to play!
Coast/Beach
The river beaches of the Dordogne are 15 minutes by car.
Golf
There are courses at Souillac and Montal which are approx 30 mins away. Golf Souillac Country Club - 18 holes and pool. Golf Montal - 9 hole/driving range, set around a chateau. Golf Brive - 18 hole/driving range. Golf Aubazine 25 mins 27 holes/driving range.
Skiing
In the winter there is a train service from the local station that takes skiers to a good resort - just one and half hours away. The ski lift pass is included in the train price - so breakfast early at Le Segala, hop on the train and be on the slopes by 10.30 and return when it gets dark - a great day out.
Travel
Limoges Airport approx 110km / 80 mins - Ryanair. Rodez Airport approx 120km / 1¾ hour - Ryanair. Bergerac Airport approx 130km / 2 hours - Ryanair/Flybe. Toulouse approx 210km / 2½ hours - Easyjet. Calais/Boulogne approx 9 hours drive. Stop Press - the new Brive-Souillac airport at Cressensac is due to open in 2009 - just 15 minutes away! A car is essential. All airports have car hire facilities. Brive railway station approx 22km where there is also car hire available. Motorail too.
Distances
The local shops are just 3km drive and Martel is 6km. Rocamadour 35km, the caves at Padirac 33km, Carennac 2km, Autoire and Loubressac about 20km, Turenne 10km, Collonges La Rouge 15km. The autoroute is 12km away. There are countless other places, too numerous to list here. The nearest point on the Dordogne River is 10km.
Further details
Les Quatre Routes du Lot (4 minutes by car) has a cash machine, supermarket, 2 bakeries, a pharmacy, a paper shop, a wine shop and restaurants. There is a restaurant 3km up the valley from the house and more in Martel too. Martel and Meyssac have more comprehensive shopping facilities and have weekly markets. Brive is the largest town and has 2 markets a week and great shopping.
Tennis players and fishing fans are well catered for and there are numerous other activities in the area. Just ask in your email if you have a sport or activity you enjoy and we will let you know the nearest place. Watching goat cheese making is just five minutes away whilst a visit to Airbus a two hour trip!
Booking notes
Please email or telephone us for more details and to check up to date availability. Once you have emailed your confirmation that you wish to book certain dates we will hold it for five days whilst awaiting receipt of your deposit. We charge a 25% non-refundable deposit with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. A cleaning deposit of 60 euros is payable on arrival. A further 150 euros is required to cover damage - refundable within a week! The latter can be paid by sterling cheque - £110.
