La Ricouvičre is a 16th century manor house situated on the border between the Calvados and La Manche departments of lower Normandy. Ideally positioned for those who enjoy walking/rambling, canoeing on the river Vire and cycling. Beautiful sandy beaches on both coastlines are within easy reach. Although peaceful and rural we are within an hour’s drive of many historically interesting sites, for example Bayeux and its Tapestry, Mont St. Michel and Caen, where William the Conquerer lived and is buried. The D-Day beaches, the Caen Memorial and the many cemeteries bear witness to Normandy’s contemporary history and the role it played towards the end of WW2.

The Saturday morning markets in Granville and St Lô are a treat to a food lover. You must remember though, that they are only there in the morning - as from midday, our French friends go home to eat! Least but not last, guest should visit the most visited monument in France after the Eiffel Tower, i.e. Mont St Michel. Owner profile

About the owner
Simon and Ingrid de Lautour, an Anglo-Swedish couple, who moved to Normandy after 30 years in the south of France, are happy to welcome you in their new home, “La Ricouvière”. Their knowledge of the area and fluency in languages will smooth the way for your holiday needs.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
After 30 years in the south of France, we wanted to explore another part of the country where the pace is slower and summers not too hot. We house hunted for 5 months and La Ricouvière found us, rather than the other way around. So no regrets having left the south and adopting a rural way of life.

Unique benefits of the property
Our 16th Century Manor House offers history, charm, luxury, incredible tranquillity and a magnificient view. Many of our customers come back time and again, which to us is the best testimonial.
