This is a unique opportunity to stay in a medieval castle. The 12th century Chateau dominates the village of Boussagues. It is extremely spacious and comfortable (1200 sq feet) with a wonderful atmosphere. There is a master bedroom with a 12th century vaulted ceiling & a large 16th century fireplace and floor, there are French doors onto the courtyard. The 2nd bedroom is slightly smaller with exposed stone walls and 12th century flagstone floor. Between the bedrooms there is a modern shower-room, with hydrocabinet and WC, retaining original flagstones. The sitting room was the Great Hall, it has exposed stone walls, original flagstone floor and fireplace with a coat of arms from the 16th century above, it is furnished with antique furniture. There is also a large kitchen, with beamed ceiling and all modern appliances It has French doors onto the courtyard. Outside is the courtyard with BBQ and eating area and hot-tub for the sole use of the apartment. There is a 7.3 x 3.7 meter pool.

Changeover day is Saturday. Check-in is between 4pm and 6pm and Checkout before 10am.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 (200 sq feet) with double bed in 12th century room with 7 metre high arches, 16th century fireplace, french doors to courtyard.
Bedroom 2 (160 sq feet) with double bed, 12th century flagstone floor beamed ceiling and views over the village.
Bathrooms: En-suite shower room separates the 2 bedrooms. There is a mixture of ancient and modern, while retaining the original flagstones and some stone walls there is modern hydrocabinet, vanity unit and toilet.
Kitchen: The 250 sq foot kitchen has a high beamed ceiling, 16th century tommette tiles and French doors onto the patio. Equipment includes - Gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board.
Living Rooms: The 500 sq.ft. living room was the Great Hall of the north wing where they would have held banquets. There is a CD player, Satellite TV with video and DVD. There is a dining table with 6 Baronial chairs. It is comfortably furnished with period furniture.

Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
One set bed linen, towels, pool towels and bathrobes are provided for each bedroom. There will be a 'Welcome Pack' of bread, butter, cheese, milk, wine and orange juice for when you arrive.

Notes on accommodation
This apartment was the main accommodation of the castle and has a wonderful atmosphere, the living room was the great hall of the castle where many banquets would have been held. If you are a lover of old stones and history then we are sure you will love this. Air-conditioning is not needed as the walls are 4ft thick and keep out the heat. During the winter there is central heating and a log fire. Please note that under 12 year are not accepted.

Accessibility
The Castle is not suitable for the elderly and those with mobility issues.

Outside
There is a courtyard outside the apartment with table and chairs and BBQ. There is also a hot-tub for sole use of the apartment. There is a 7.3 x 3.7 meter pool shared by one other apartment.

Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean is about 40 mins by car. Our nearest beaches are Valras Plage, Serignan, and Cap d'Agde.

Golf
We have 7 great courses within 1 hour. The local golf course at Lamalou is 15 mins away, there are 9 holes but they are expanding it to 18. We have it on good authority from previous guests that the course, although only 9 holes, is better kept and more enjoyable to play than most UK courses. The other courses are at Juvingac Fontcaude, Cap d'Agde, Beziers, Montpellier Massane, Grande Motte and Coulondres.

Travel
We are in the middle of 8 airports. Beziers 45 minutes, Montpelliers 1 hr 15 mins, Nimes 1hr 40 mins, Perpignan 1hr 35 mins, Carcassonne 1hr 25 mins, Toulouse 2hrs, Rodez and Girona 2hr 30 mins.

Distances
By car Bedarieux is 7kms, Lodeve 20kms, Beziers 45kms. You can walk to La Tour sur Orb in 10 mins. La tour sur Orb has a Supermarket, Pizzaria and a Boulangerie. There are riding establishments within 10 mins drive, fishing within 15 mins, canoeing within 35 mins, windsurfing on Lac Salagou and Golf in lamalou, 15 mins away. We are half an hour from the thermal spa town of AVENE.

Further details
Please remember that most shops in France close between 12pm-2pm although we have 2 supermarkets in Bedarieux that stay open throughout the day. We have a local supermarket that is open on Sunday mornings throughout July and August only, there are also 2 large supermarkets in Bedarieux that are open Sunday mornings. Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is required with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
Please note: We only accept bookings from Saturday to Saturday during the high season - (1 April - 30 September).
We accept bookings for long weekends and short breaks during the low season.
