Spacious genuine 3 double bed apartment that can sleep 8 comfortably. Situated just 5 mins drive from the ski lifts of Les Arcs/La Plagne, one of the biggest ski resorts in Europe. The apartment is part of an old farmhouse, nestled at the top of an authentic farming village. There are beautiful views in all directions, its peaceful and away from the hordes in the resorts. Val d’Isere/Tignes and the Three Valleys plus a number of smaller resorts are also within easy reach and the town of Bourg St Maurice is just 5 minutes from the village. There's plenty of restaurants and bars, 3 supermarkets and a wonderful pedestrian high street with lots of more traditional french shops. The apartment is available year round and is fantastically situated for enjoyment of all summer activities as well. There's a lake beach and a golf course. The old towns of Albertville, Chambery, Annecy, Aix Les Bains and more make wonderful excursions.

Prices are for the apartment per week. Depending on the time of year it may be possible to go midweek, or to pay by the day and there's a discount of 10% if you book 2 weeks or more.
Changeover day
Change over day will be Saturday in peak season (Xmas, Feb, Easter, Summer Hols. There may flexibility at other times. Check out time will normally be noon.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment has 3 genuine bedrooms. It is 100sqm, not like the normal shoe boxes you find in the French Alpes. It's very comfortable and cosy with more than enough space for children. It is set in a tranquil and authentic village with the balcony overlooking the valley and facing Les Arcs. Nothing but the mountains extend from the back of the house.
Golf
There is a golf course at Les Arcs.
Skiing
The apartment is just 5 mins drive from the funicular railway that whisks you up to Les Arcs in 7 mins. Les Arcs has recently been linked to the resort of La Plagne by the biggest and fastest cable car in the world, the Vanoise Express, which can carry 200 people and takes less than 4 minutes. Together they make one of the largest ski resorts in the world with upwards of 400km of pistes.
Being situated in the valley, you are within easy reach of numerous other ski resorts: Val d’Isere/Tignes - 30 mins drive. The Three Valleys - 40 mins. Rosiere (and La Thuile in Italy) and St Foy - 30 mins. Its perfect for those that want a little variety and like to explore.
Travel
If you fly and drive you can go to any of the following airports: Chambery, winter only - 1 hr (Flybe or Snowjet). Grenoble (Easyjet) winter only, 1½ hr. Lyon: 2 hr. Geneva: 2½ hr.
You can also take the Eurostar direct from Waterloo to Bourg St Maurice or there are 2 snow train options with overnight sleepers (see raileurope.co.uk).
Distances
From the apartment, it's 5 mins drive to Bourg St Maurice and the funicular railway or 15/20 mins walk.
Further details
Bourg St Maurice is busy all year round and has plenty of all the normal facilities you would expect. It has a lovely pedestrian centre with plenty of restaurants and bars and a lovely Saturday market. There is a huge amount going on in the summer. You can walk and trek for miles in the hills and National Parks (The Vanoise National Park is right on the door step). Canoeing, lake swimming and sun bathing, white water rafting, paragliding, road and mountain biking, climbing, golf, tennis, horse riding and lots more. Whether you want to relax or exert yourself, it’s a perfect spot. For those that prefer a drive in the hills, the roads are fabulous and the Italian Lake District is just across the pass.

About the owner
My name is Adam and I'm a father of 2 young boys. I work in property and building, running my own small business with my brother and father. My partner and I have loved skiing from an early age. This house has combined both building and skiing for me, I bought it in 2003 and have converted it to apartments during my holidays. We visit when we can now, school holidays permitting, but there are no more major works so it's about enjoying the place now. We love the mountains in summer too and this is a great spot to indulge your passion for the outdoors.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The house supplies everything one could want. Its spacious, peaceful and rural, and has beautiful views all around. The skiing is limitless and it's well positioned for enjoying the many ski resorts, the national park, the summer mountain activities, the local town, the river. It's fairly close to the main road up and down the valley for ease of access to airports and other towns too. The town of Bourg is vibrant and has many facilities. It's much cheaper than up in the resorts and still has plenty of life in the summer.
