The cottages are at the edge of a friendly pretty little village with 2 restaurants/cafes, bakery, tabac, pharmacy, post office and small supermarket which also sells take away pizzas all within 3-5 minutes walk. Comfortable cottages, bright airy, freshly decorated with high ceilings and exposed beams and are attached to owners house and come fully equipped. A large front garden with parking for 4 cars. Very large enclosed rear garden with fruit trees, boules court and a superb new 40ft x 20ft swimming pool, and ideal for children. Central to all local attractions, La Rochelle with it's towers and beautiful waterfront restaurants. Fort Boyard,as featured on the television series. The beautiful island of Ile de Ré,well worth visiting. The Venise Vert and it's beautiful canals. The Mervant Forest for a lovely days pic. The superb blue flag beaches of Aguillion and La Tranch only 20 minutes away. This is a wonderful place to relax and let the children really enjoy themselves.

Changeover day
Changeover on Saturdays. Guests can arrive after 3pm. Saturday. Guests must please leave by 11am Saturday.

| Other: | French doors take you to your own small private patio with a full size barbeque, table and 6 chairs with parasol, 2 loungers and access to the very large garden. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Towels and linen are not provided unless asked for at a small extra cost. Beach towels are not provided at all. The property is thoroughly cleaned and ready for when you arrive. |

Outside
The large front garden is grassed with flower beds and trees and parking for 4 cars. The rear garden is very large grassed with many fruit trees (apple, pear, apricot, plum). There is an 40ft x 20ft new swimming pool for guests use, and an 8m boules court. The garden is really lovely and totally child friendly as it is completely enclosed and safe.
Coast/Beach
We are only 20-25 minutes gentle driving from miles of sandy blue flag beaches. The beaches are gently sloping and clean. The sea is very calm and superb for children. Also as there are so many miles of beaches they do not get packed even at the height of the season. There is also a surfing beach 45 minutes from us at La Conche. At La Rochelle there is the ancient old port and and its many waterfront restaurants. There is also a superb marina and zoo.
Travel
Travel to us can be by Brittany Ferries - Caen, 4 hours driving. St Malo, 3 hours driving.
By air Ryanair (Stansted, London), La Rochelle 35 minutes driving by hired car. Flybe (Southampton), La Rochelle.
Distances
Lucon 9km has many shops, a cathedral, beautiful 9 acre garden, cafes, restaurants. La Rochelle 19km beaches, historic old port, dozens restaurants along waterfront, ancient arcade shops, Aquarium, Marina. Venise Vert with its beautifully interlocking green canals. Mervant Forest a paradise for walkers and cyclists. Ile de Ré, long stretches of sand dunes and restaurants. Beaches at La Tranche, La Faute, Auiguillon, La Sable. Futuroscope. Puy de Fou, step back in time with its medieval village.
Further details
We are on the edge of the village of Champagné les Marais and only 100mtr from the boulangerie (bakers). Opposite us 50mtr is a pharmacy and in the centre of the village (5 mins walking) is a post office, 2 reasonable cafe/restaurants, a tabac, and a small supermarket which also sells take away pizzas.
Booking notes
We will send you a brochure and booking form. Return the booking form with a deposit of 20% with the full balance to be paid 6 weeks prior to arrival. Prices of cottages are for 1 week and include electricity, water, and 1 bottle of gas per week (usually more than enough). Unfortunately we do not allow pets).

Peter and myself (Karen) moved to France 11 years ago. I speak reasonably good French and can help with any queries or help that you, the guests, may have or want. We live next to the gites and are available most of the time. We love to talk with our guests and let them bring us up to date with all that is going on in Britain. We are more than happy to talk about the area and give any information you may want to make your holiday even better ie; where the beaches are and which beaches to go to, other attractions such as zoos or marinas. We love hearing about where you have been during the day and your experiences and perhaps have a beer or glass of wine with you in the evening;
