La Gondie is located in the heart of the countryside with a stunning view through a valley to forested hills. In its tranquil hillside setting, it ensures a totally relaxing holiday and boasts a large heated swimming pool (12m x 5.5m with 2m deep end) and ample sunbathing patio. La Gondie is surrounded by woodland where there are many forest walks and cycle routes to explore this most picturesque area. Perigueux is within easy reach (20 minute drive), which is skirted with a range of modern shops and in the center, the beautiful old city. La Gondie is centrally situated for all the most popular tourist sites of the Dordogne, for example, Brantome 45 minutes to the North, Sarlat 50 minutes to the South, Rocamadour 80 minutes to the East and Bordeaux 90 minutes to the West.

Notes on prices
We offer discounted prices for guests staying for more than one week. The prices quoted above are for the first week only. As a way of thanking our longer staying guests, we will apply a 10% discount to subsequent weeks, when booked as a multi-week block.
Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday, however please contact the owners if flexibility is required.

| Kitchen: | The kitchen is fully equipped; with a gas cooker, combination microwave/convection oven/grill, dish washer and a fridge with freezer compartment. The kitchen is open plan with a large rustic kitchen table to sit up to 8 people. |
| Living Rooms: | Open plan with kitchen, dinning room and living area. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge. Double doors lead on to the patio area. The TV connects to a satellite receiver for UK, TV/radio channels and a DVD player. |

Accessibility
Sorry, but it is not suitable for wheel chair access due to steps which can not be adapted.
Outside
La Gondie has lawned areas with flowers around in the boarders and patio areas for sunbathing. Sun-loungers, parasols dining tables and chairs for eating out and a BBQ are supplied.
Coast/Beach
La Gondie is approximately 2 hours drive from the Atlantic coast with its long sandy beaches and excellent surfing waves, however we are close to several large lakes which have clean sandy beaches, safe swimming areas with sailing, boating and canoeing facilities. Canoe hire is available on many of the rivers.
Golf
There is an 18 hole municipal golf course situated approx 30 minutes drive, near Perigueux, on the bank of the river Isle, it is said to be an excellent course according to a local friend who plays there every week.
Travel
We are situated approx 20 min drive east of Perigueux. Bergerac airport is approx 45 mins drive to the south, Limoges airport approx 75 mins drive to the north and Bordeaux airport is about 90 mins to the east of La Gondie. It is approx a 6/8 hour drive to the ferry ports. A vehicle (or bicycle for the seriously energetic) is essential in order to enjoy all that this area has to offer.
Distances
We have a restaurant in our local village of Blis et Born, which is about 5 minutes drive away. We have 2 bakeries approx 10/15 minutes drive, but the nearest shopping area, which has everything, such as large supermarkets, pharmacy, clothes shops and numerous restaurants is in Trelissac (outskirts of Perigueux) 20 min drive away. Hautefort, with famous chateau, is just 30 minutes drive.
Further details
Within the surrounding area there are many attractions such as canoeing, quad biking, horse riding, go ape park, go-carting, an aqua park, forest walks, cycling as well as the wonderful medieval city of Sarlat and Brantome, know as the venice of the Perigord. Lascaux is famous for its cave paintings and there are many other amazing caves and Chateaus worth visiting. The area is noted for its cuisine notably duck, foie gras, cepe mushrooms and truffles.
Booking notes
A 10% deposit is required upon booking, with the balance payable 6 weeks prior to arrival. A cash deposit of £100 is payable on arrival, as security against damage. Guests are requested to leave the facilities as clean as they might expect to find them. A cleaning service can be provided on the day of departure for a fee, payable locally.

About the owner
We are a retired couple, in our late 50s, who fulfilled our lifelong ambition to move to France, having fallen in love with this country about 25 years ago, when we first started holidaying here. For us, the dream came true and we've never been happier as we are here in France. It's a beautiful country.

This is a beautiful area of France, with really friendly people, where the great values of yesteryear such politeness and respect for others, still lives on. Where we live is conveniently close to Perigueux for the necessities of life and yet is far enough from the rush of life to feel as if you're in the middle of nowhere.
