The apartment is full equipped to a high standard and comprises 2 floors (upper floor is accessible via a spiral staircase). There is a bathroom (shower room upstairs), a toilet and 2 bedrooms on both floors. Downstairs is a spacious dining area with seating for 8 people + high chair which leads to a comfortable living room with TV and DVD player, a fitted kitchen with microwave, cooker, fridge, small freezer and dishwasher. There is a washing machine and travel cot if required. Off of the living area there is a large balcony with table and chairs and views overlooking the South slopes.

Changeover day
The normal changeover day is Saturday but we can be flexible on this day.
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 (downstairs) with double bed. Velux window. Bedroom 2 (downstairs) with double bed, window and door to balcony & views. Bedroom 3 (mezzanine) with bunk beds. Bedroom 4 (mezzanine) with twin beds this room has a low ceiling and no window. |
| Bathrooms: | Downstairs: bathroom with bath, shower and washbasin. Washing Machine. Separate WC. On the Mezzanine: Shower room with washbasin and WC. |
| Kitchen: | Oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge with small freezer compartment. Opens out into lounge area. |
| Utility Room: | There is a washing machine located in the downstairs bathroom. Airer also available for drying clothes. |
| Living Rooms: | Lounge with large L-shaped comfortable sofa a great place to sit and take in the amazing view. Access onto balcony area. There is a 36 inch LCD TV (only French channels), DVD Player (some DVDs are available), iPod music system, games & books. |
| Other: | The Lounge opens onto dining room with seating for 8 plus high chair available if needed. The balcony has a plastic table and seating for 6. |

You can either bring your own bed linen and towels or we can supply these for you at a charge of 15 Euros per bed. We will arrange cleaning of the apartment for you after your departure. |

Notes on accommodation
Entrance hall in the apartment has a built in wardrobe for coats. Thermostatically controlled electric heating in all rooms, adjustable to suit requirements.
Accessibility
The apartment complex has a ramp to the front doors. Lift or stairs as the apartment is on the second floor. Within the apartment the upstairs (mezzanine floor) with 2 beds and shower room is only accessible via a spiral staircase.
Outside
Private ski locker located at the entrance to the apartment building. There is a car park at the rear of the apartment complex. Separate private garage beneath the building which has a lift/stairs directly up to the second floor.
Coast/Beach
Lake Leman (Lake Geneva) approx 30 minutes has beaches along some sections of the lake.
Golf
Evian golf club is approx 25 minutes drive from the apartment.
Skiing
The apartment is only a few minutes walk from the slopes of 'Cret Beni' this child friendly resort had a new high speed 6 seater chairlift in 2008. Or a short drive/free shuttle bus, takes you to the Panthiaz Gondola, with direct ski links into Portes Du Soleil ski area. The Portes Du Soliel comprises 12 different resorts: Chatel, Morzine, Chapelle d’Abondance, Avoriaz, Champery, Les Crosets, Mogins, Montriond, Les Gets, St Jean d’Aups and Val d’Torgon Illiez. The total area comprises 680km of prepared slopes spread over France and Switzerland and is a real dream for the demanding and novice skier. Other activSkiing and snowboarding; Cross country skiing; Sledging; Snow quad biking and snow tubing; Paragliding; Snow shoeing and winter walking; Horse riding; Village markets and weekly events; Cinema; Sightseeing train; Ice skating.
Travel
Recommended airport is Geneva, approx 1 hour 15 mins drive (70km) to the apartment (directions can be provided). Several airlines fly to Geneva, including BA, Swiss, EasyJet and Flybe. Hire cars available from Geneva Airport.
Driving: Approx 10 hours drive from Calais.
Distances
Chatel is approx 5km in one direction and Abondance is approx 5km in the other direction along the valley.
Further details
Several gourmet restaurants (including Le Clos Savoyard and Les Cornettes) are a short walk from the apartment.
Cafes and bars within easy walking distance including the Fer Rouge, a micro brewery, with happy hour every evening.
Boulangerie, epicerie, ski hire shops, lift pass office, medical centre and ski school are all a short walk from the apartment within the village.
There is a supermarket just outside Chatel approx 4km away.
Booking notes
£100 deposit require upon booking, balance required 10 weeks before arrival.
Check out by 10am on day of departure.

About the owner
I live in England with my husband Terry, my daughter Rosie and my 2 step daughters Holly and Chloe visit regularly. Terry runs an advertising and marketing company and I am chief cook and head gardener at home! We were late to learn to ski but fell in love with it and enjoy it as an activity we can all do together. France is so vast and beautiful and we have only just begun to explore it from our apartment base in the Alps.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
After visiting and staying with friends who live in Bernex for a couple of years we learnt to ski and fell in love with the area; the beautiful scenery; the lovely ski resorts; the food; the culture and so decided to buy a base of our own in the region.
Unique benefits of the property
La Chapelle d'Abondance is a lovely little village and although it is not as famous as it's neighbour Chatel it is therefore not as manic which suits us well, we have the access to so many resorts that we have only just touched on all the different areas we can ski in since we have bought the apartment in 2009 so there is loads of choices for us and the slopes never seem too crowded. We are spoilt for choice for good restaurants around us or we have the option to stay in if we feel exhausted after a day on the slopes or walking.
