Etoile is a luxuriously appointed spacious chalet apartment situated in the beautiful village of Samoens and less than I hour from Geneva. It is located on three levels with 2 en-suite bedrooms at the top, very comfortable open plan living area on the first floor and garage with laundry room on the ground floor. Additional parking is available. The living area has underfloor heating and a log fire and benefits from a large balcony - perfect for soaking up the views or dining out when warm enough.

Bedroom 2 with twin beds (extra single futon available) and wardrobe.
Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower, basin and wc. Two hairdryers are available.
Hob, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, glasses, cups, dinner service and cutlery for 8, plenty of cooking utensils, saucepans etc and serving dishes.
Freezer available in garage.
Washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes airer, coat hooks, ironing board, iron, laundry basket, freezer, cleaning equipment (if needed).
Large sofa and chair to seat 6, dining table and chairs to seat 6, log fire, TV (with French and English satellite channels), DVD, Hi-Fi with iPod connector.
Cot and high chair can be available if required.
Linen and towels are included. For two week and longer rentals a weekly clean and linen change can be provided.

The usual changeover day is a Sunday, although different days are available on request.
A booking deposit of 25% is required with the completed booking.
A refundable damage deposit is required.
Initial enquires will be handled by the owners, confirmed bookings will be handled by an English speaking representative local to the property, who is on hand to deal with any questions.

About the area
The ski bus is 3 mins walk from the property, or the two Samoens ski lifts are 5 mins and 10 mins drive away with plenty of parking. Alternatively the Morillon ski lift is about 15 mins drive. From the Samoens or Morrillon ski areas the whole of the Grand Massif ski area, with 265km of pistes, can be accessed.
The Grand Massif has an excellent snow record and offers great skiing for all - from beginners to the off piste enthusiasts. Samoens has several good ski schools catering for adults and children. The area benefits from some new lifts and generally has far fewer queues than most of the large resorts and extensive new snow cannons. There are plenty of good mountain restaurants to suit different budgets, as well as picnic areas.
Cross country skiing is also possible either in the village or at the Col de Joux Plane depending on snow conditions.
For more variety, a day out in Chamonix, Megeve, La Clusaz, Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz is possible, all being within an hour's drive.
How to get there
Geneva is 1 hour's drive and it is about 7.5 hour's driving time from Calais.
A car is recommended but not essential.
Samoens is a historic, charming French town. Market day every Wednesday is not to be missed and it has quaint shops offering plenty of local fare. There are a number of local cultural and music festivals to complement the energetic activities on offer.
The Giffre valley, where Samoens is located, is a beautiful setting for a holiday any time of year. Surrounded by a protected mountain area it offers a huge range of activities in summer - rock-climbing, including the Via Ferrata, swimming in the local lake or pools, volley ball, tennis, paragliding, horse-riding, hiking, cycling, rafting...and more.

Why this location?
We first visited Samoens in 2005 and fell in love with the place. The extensive skiing offers something for everyone - skiers, boarders, beginners, off-piste enthusiasts, children. - and we knew it would be the sort of place we could keep going back to. In addition the town is charming, in the winter it oozes warmth with vin chauds available as you wander around, whilst out of the ski season it is calm and invites you to linger over a coffee in the square watching the world go by. We were astounded by the variety of activities available in the summer and when our friends have visited it seems that children of all ages can be easily occupied. We have tried to create a really comfortable home in Samoens and if you decide to visit we hope you will love it too.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The closeness to the town so that it is easy to pop down to buy fresh croissants for breakfast, or walk to a restaurant for dinner but the elevation above the town to be a little away from it and enjoy the far reaching views.
